A part of oppression is the concept of feeling "less than others". African Americans are infected with this bug. Blacks from Africa have a different outlook and as a group much better self-esteem. For that reason Africans outperform AAs.
True...contamination is the proper word.

BTW, helping 24/7 is not the solution.

If I was king I would send all the kids of low socioeconomic unwed mothers to intern schools and would teach ETHICS 24/7.

In a very poor country like Cuba schooling is very serious business and gun crime or murder is very rare. They are dirt poor, but somehow have a self worth that is sorely lacking in the inner cities of the US.

It saddens me that the US is unable to provide this type of education to the poor people. What we have is inner city schools that are in great decay and where these kids learn NOTHING.
I agree with you on the schooling to a point. What we have now is not working. However, it is not lack of money being spent. Baltimore for example spends $16,000 per kid per year. How much is wasted via union and city corruption is anyone's guess but the taxpayers are shelling out big bucks for those schools. Personally I think the primary problem is lack of parenting which is all but impossible for govt to mandate fixes for.

My daughter is a 7th grade teacher in what I would call the outer suburbs of a major city. The newer residents are mostly white and affluent. The native locals are mostly poor and black. The rather significant economic differences are softened somewhat via a very strict dress code that limits style and color of clothing. Not unlike traditional parochial school dress codes that preclude a lot of wardrobe competition. Her school is about 50% white, 50% black.

The white kids come from high achieving economically successful families and generally do well academically, but the few with behavior or academic problems tend to be the ones whose parents don't seem to take it seriously when she calls them over an issue.

What her academically successful and well behaved black kids have in common is involved parenting. It might be two parents, or just one, or sometimes just grandma, but whoever is there takes education seriously and is raising the child to rise above that family's economic situation. The parent comes to parent-teacher meetings, takes seriously any input my daughter provides, and is involved in what their kid is doing. She has also had poor black kids with chaotic or dysfunctional home situations but where the kid just has an inner strength that keeps them focused in school and rising above what's going on at home. Typically however, households where nobody is truly parenting tend to have academically poor performing kids and more than their share of behavior problems. She's even had parents tell her "he's your problem, not mine". Once in an outreach effort to get more of the disengaged parents involved with their kid's education, she set up a parent-teacher open house at a community center right in the neighborhood where the poorest kids lived, and nobody came.

It comes down to parenting, and I don't know how to fix that.

(They would lower a "Chinaman" down a line to place dynamite in the side of a hill while they were building the railroads. There was little chance that they would pull him up in time.)

Do you see that there are still cultural prejudices against "Asians" in this country? How many "Asian" leading actors do you see out there? Even this law was only recently overruled - State Supreme Court Overrules Unspeakably Racist Decision That Stood For 125 Years | ThinkProgress.

Do you see Chinese running around asking for reparations? NO! We put our heads down and work hard to make our own success. The not so funny thing is that because we studied and worked hard they made requirements more difficult for Asians to gain entrance into Harvard and other top universities. Not fair but I can accept that. I guess it's a form of respect. And who needs a government handout anyway, right????

You might want to go educate yourself about other races before you go off on some self-righteous racial accusation."

And that sums up my thoughts quite well. I'm getting sick and tired of perpetual victimhood from every corner. It's all used to bash on whites, white males, and Christians (as if all Christians were white)...because EVERY FRICKEN TIME threads like this are put up, it's "blame whitey" hour. There comes a time when "it's all whitey's fault" doesn't work as an excuse anymore. And wth do any black people want "whitey" to do anyway? We are told that we "don't get it", fine, then stop asking whitey for anything. Besides, any time a black person has success in "whitey's world", what are they called? You know.

These threads are filled with racism towards whites, and I'm done staying silent about that.

And let me stop the excuse makers now: We ALL know that when you say "right wing" you mean "white people" because you libs pretend that the right is nothing but whites "clinging to their guns and bibles" so don't even try to deny it.

Valid points.

Yes, it is a difficult issue and my only solution is forced schooling as an intern 24/7 away from the home environment.

All of you keep assuming I am black. I also have a white arse!

There are no easy solutions, but at least acknowledge there is a HUGE problem in black America. There is also a problem with white people that have a belief system based on stereotypes or recycled right wing phrases of propaganda.

The solution will likely take several generations, but one must start somewhere. I assume we are not barbarians anymore and that we actually care for others in society.

Nope

White man hates black because white man thinks black is inferior.
Black man hates white because black man thinks white is an oppressive system.

BIG DIFFERENCE

Furthermore, blacks lack the power whites have. Racism is more intense when it is done by the system that has the power.

I am glad I could teach you something today.
