Russia hit base along Jordanian border used by elite US and British forces.
After the first cluster bomb hit, the US contacted Russia and asked that the same location not be hit. 90 minutes later Russian planes came and did not respond to a channel left open for US-Russian communication and struck the US base again.
Russia says it was an accident and that they thought it was an ISIS base, the US rejects the notion, because it was formed in a certain unique fashion. The base was also not near the front lines and outside of where Russian planes operate.
Some are saying that Russia may have bombed the secret US base that special forces use in Syria, in order to force the US over to Putin's side for closer coordination between the US and Russia in Syria. If so, it has worked.
Poking, poking, poking. There is nothing they can do to offend Obama. I won't be surprised to hear Kerry thanking them for not bombing the base a second time.
I would not dispute really, really poor and negligent Russian intelligence and communication. I doubt they're any tighter than they were in the Soviet days, and they were a trainwreck then.
And I'd point out that combined (international) operations on a single front are really, really difficult. The US has gotten pretty decent at joint operation since the Desert One disaster, but that took concerted, intentional effort just to get US forces working well with one another.

Technically, you mean Kerry thanking Russia for not bombing our base a 3rd time. The 2nd Bombing was 90 minutes later after we contacted them multiple times to not bomb it again.

Could be true, but it is a slim chance for a coincidence that they bombed an area outside of where they are suppose to, which is outside of the war zone...and then all of the communication channels failed for 90 minutes.

Ok, that's worse than I thought but with this bunch you can never go wrong assuming it is always worse than it is. I suppose they figured buzzing our ships wasn't too bad so let's go bomb them.
Maybe Russia knows Hillary will win the election and is starting the liberation of the American People?
