Cops got called to a public park for a man acting erratically. You know.....where your children play.
They get there. Man begins digging in his backpack. What did the cops do? WELL...they did what the left demands. They let him. They were nice and let the guy just dig around and reach into whatever he wanted.
Oh.....he was retrieving a gun. And shot the cop.
But at least the cop didn't overreact and try to be all like....controlling and racist and all ya know?
There's a reason why for 30 years cops have been trained to NOT let suspect dig into their pants or pockets or bags while they are with them. Because the cops get shot!!! The 70s and 80s saw epidemic levels of cops shot. Their training adjusted.
Now the left wants that training reversed. And more cops will be shot.
Oh yeah....remember in Minnesota when the cop told the armed guy "DONT REACH DOWN THERE"???? Remember in Baton Rouge...when Alton Sterling was reaching for a gun?
This is why. When the suspect is REACHING TOWARDS A GUN.....well....the first to shoot often wins.
Cops get 1 second to decide:
A) Defend myself but risk being called racist
B) Wait it out....and risk being shot
If you can't take risk, you don't belong in police force.
Because one guy looked into a backpack and grabbed gun, should cops shoot anyone who looks into a backpack?
It could be a college kid, autistic adult, drunk whatever...
Cops should be ready and take risk if that's what takes to save innocent life.
Cops shouldn't imagine things and shoot.
Confirm and shoot.
Is that risky? Yes. If you are afraid of that risk, go sell lemonade in a stand.
Same goes with cops letting driver take documents out from their glove box.
Yes, some grab gun but most just get the documents.
Because one grabs gun, should cops shoot all who do that?
That's stupid.
Again, if you are that stupid and scared to shoot someone without confirmation of weapon/intent, go sell lemonade.

This sums it up nicely. No we don't want cops killed nor do we want unarmed citizens killed. We want a little more verification from cops that the person they are shooting at is in fact armed and in fact presenting a threat...and more accountability when they are wrong. This whole narrative of 'well they followed procedures when they shot an unarmed man posing no threat so no charges or discipline will be imposed' has to stop. If you are following procedures and unarmed people are being killed, your procedures are wrong.

you say "confirm then shoot". Ok. So what is "confirm"??? Wait until the gun is out and pointed at you...THEN draw yours....THEN shoot??? You know you would be shot before that right? Once his barrel is pointed at you....it's too late.
They already do take that risk. Millions of times a day. Most times they just risk it and stay vigilant.
But when cops say DON'T MOVE or DON'T REACH YOUR HANDS DOWN THERE......this is why. And if they say don't do it don't do it.
Castile was confirmed to have a weapon and reached to it. So did Sterling. After being told not to. And got shot. This is why.

you guys should go through the shoot/dont shoot training that LEOs receive at their respective academies these days. it will open your eyes to what cops have to deal with everyday.

They think it's like an Xbox game. The lefts grasp of tactics is so absurdly comical.

My son was just a few blocks from where this happened. He has spent the week in Chicago with a group of high schoolers doing work projects in Garfield Park and a nearby church.
Yesterday was their last day there, and I was thinking how smoothly the week had gone considering all the turmoil right now. And then I got a text from him that an officer had been shot nearby, but that he was okay.
I checked the news to see what was going on, and late last night I couldn't find anything about it.
If the policeman had shot the perp, I'm guessing there would have been plenty of coverage.
Glad my son is coming home today.
