Some people post messages here nearly singing praises about Hillary and Obama. My only conclusion is, there are some on this board actually being paid to do so. I know it happens in China all the time.
Been here since 2008...yes, there are astroturfers who pop up every four years.
They're pretty easy to spot because they are typically a new-join, post like there is no tomorrow and it's always the same "on message' crap the campaigns are spouting.
Check them out after the election is over.
They'll post incessantly until the day of the election and then they'll go away, never to be heard from again...so, yes.

Momonkey wins the non-prize for knowing it's called astroturfing. If you've never heard of it, do a search. It's eye opening.
Not always a new join, though, like I said. They can like posting and continue posting after their paid gig is up. They tend to jump in the middle of threads with random arguments to push their agenda. And it's not always during an election year. It can be about some other piece of legislation, or water quality or any other hot topic someone wants to shape public opinion about.
I wouldn't be surprised if we had a few here.
