Just like Constantine merged some celtic & pagan practices with Christianity to make it more acceptable, Arabs did the same with Islam. Please research their history. Islam brought moderation to their women hating, war loving, slavery culture. Yes the Prophet had many wives but that was the culture & women used to mature (physically) faster at that time, especially in a desert. Most of his marriages were to bring peace among different tribes. If the rules from the past dont apply today then the modern rules didn't work in that era either. Child marriages were popular in India too. The new religion gave divorce rights to women, freed slaves & prohibited burying daughter alive at birth. The wars had strict rules about not killing any women & children or any men working in fields. It accepted all the prophets from jewish & christianity faith.
It was great for a while but after a few years they reverted back to their old practices of slavery, revenge & gender bias that still continues to this day. 'Hijab' & beard are for protecting yourself against desert storms & blowing sand in that area so its about geographical location. Same reason belly dancers that originated in ME deserts cover their faces. Most of the customs you are seeing today are Arab culture & have very little to do with the actual religion. Muslims in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey are democratic & secular because their culture is not like the Arabs. But now they are being corrupted through funding from ME that spreads the culture of hatred. Before 80s & the oil money in ME, you didnt have these issues in rest of the world.
