It's not about whether or not X of them were classified or not but they were sent through an unsecured off the books private server susceptible to penetration.
Something that's missed about Powell is that, although he used a private email address, his emails went through a secure State Department server.

I was referring to post 9/11 and concerns over iraqi securing fissionable material, as in the yellow cake report, and their ties to Al-Qaeda. We wanted revenge for 9-11 and found it in Sadaam. WMDs, being atomic weapons, the issue.

Who told the press that Powell had given her the advice? She mentioned it to the FBI, but who told the press?
It wasn't her.
It was the GOP "investigators" who demanded the FBI notes be turned over to them. Now they are leaking them to the press hoping for some kind of political gain.
Anyone who thought the "investigation" was going to be anything but political football was being horribly naive. They didn't even care how their info-leaks will damage one of their own (Powell).
