That sounds very sharia to me.

I would reserve it for the worst of the worst, and only for murder.

Does not appear to be a strong correlation between the Death Sentance and murder rates in most states.

California has a murder rate of 4.4 , the same rate as Texas despite differences in the Death Penalty.

State by State Database | Death Penalty Information Center

As I understand it, gang members tend not to believe they will live beyond young adulthood, live by/ die by the sword thing. The outcome is the same if you murder 1 or 100.

Well it would be effective in getting rid of violent criminals who use weapons to commit crimes. It makes far more sense than punishing the entire population for the actions of a few. It also ensures that criminals who demonstrate the willingness to use a weapon in a crime are eliminated from society and the gene pool.

Here in Florida, a presence of a gun while committing crimes will land you in prison for a very long time, but to put them to death even if no one was hurt just doesn't make sense.

EVERY STATE in this country catches and then releases felons after they have served their sentence. It is surprising people are not familiar with this concept.
"They had served time for theft and for having a gun."

You keep beating around the bush and post ridiculous statements.

They did NOT serve their ENTIRE SENTENCES.

After the FIRST offense they were released EARLY.

Then they go and commit crimes again, get caught, go to jail and get OUT EARLY AGAIN.

Then they they do the SAME thing a THIRD time.

Enough is ENOUGH.

If it was YOUR child or other family member of friend I'd bet you would be singing a different tune.

Why do you keep defending these multi time criminals?

Again you ask a rhetorical question which is NOT germane to the conversation.

QUIT trying to move the goalposts.

The FIRST time they got caught they did NOT get a life sentence, nor the 2nd nor the 3rd, so why do you ask this silly question.

You can't teach people that killing is wrong by killing.
"We have the death penalty. It hasn't stopped people from killing each other yet."

IMO, it is BECAUSE it is NOT used ENOUGH.

Many state have it and haven't used it in decades so your statement does NOT apply.

As already has been posted. The rate in California (that does not use the death penalty) is the same as in Texas which does.

The brothers harassed the driver who ran up the street while the victim was pushing the stroller down the street. The brothers opened fire and missed their target, the driver , and instead shot the victim in the arm, eye and head. The driver ran and called the Police.

The younger brother had been released on parole just 13 days prior.

Reportedly, the brothers could not explain why they chased the driver or attempted to shoot him.

The day prior to the murder, Wade participated in an ESPN Town Hall meeting on gun violence in Chicago. Wade said something along the lines of the " need to help these people transform their minds and give them a different direction".

Following this shooting/ death, nearly 50 people were shot and 9 were killed over the weekend. 5 out of 21 Police Districts in Chicago account for most gun violence.
"Recent updates have made clear the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Typical, BLAME the victim!

IF the criminal WAS STILL IN JAIL serving the sentence he GOT, he wold NOT have been ale to commit the crimes he did.

How about THAT?

What ever happened to being FREE to go where ones wants in America?

2 men charged in fatal shooting of Nykea Aldridge, Wade’s cousin |Chicago Sun Times

There was nothing "senseless" about this shooting & there certainly was a "Reason" - Nyklea Aldridge was gunned down while pushing a stroller at 3:00 in the afternoon BECAUSE these Gang Bangers were both out on Parole for previous Gun Crimes.

There is your "reason" - nothing "senseless" about it. Catch and Release in the way "Criminal Justice" operates in Cities like Chicago. She would be alive today if they hadn't let this killer out of prison in February.

Darwin Sorells, 26, and 22-year-old brother Derren, who are both documented gang members, were charged with first-degree murder overnight on Sunday, police said.
Both are repeated gun offenders, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson confirmed, and both were out on parole at the time of the killing.
Speaking about Darwin, Johnson said he is a six-time weapon offender who was jailed in 2013 for six years for another gun crime but released on parole in February.

So why are these Repeat Offenders let go? The Chicago Politicians (all Democrats) won't allow stronger sentencing laws. It's not all Democrats and it's not all citizens that agree with this 'Catch & Release' program ..... people like Wade need to step up and give this a microphone. The fake BLM needs to step up and end this 'Catch & Release' mentality.

Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said the suspects are an example of the city’s problem with repeat offenders, which he has spoken about frequently in recent months. Darwin Sorrells was sentenced to six years in prison in January 2013 on a gun charge and was released early on parole, while Derren Sorrells is a known gang member who also was on parole.

“They don’t care who they shoot and they don’t fear the consequences,” he said, noting as he has in the past that about 1,400 people are driving 85 percent of the city’s gun violence.

Chicago police, lawmakers seek tougher laws for repeat gun offenders | Associated Press - July 2016

Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson and state Sen. Kwame Raoul said Friday that new legislation the Chicago Democrat is introducing would ensure the criminals responsible for many of Chicago's shootings spend more time behind bars.

The measure would require judges to impose prison terms on the higher end of sentencing guidelines for offenders previously convicted of a gun crime. The existing guidelines would not change.

“Repeat gun offenders are driving the violence in Chicago,” Johnson said.

He added that Chicago police are working diligently to keep these offenders off the streets “but we need help from the justice system to hold them accountable for their actions.”

Gun control legislation has been difficult to pass in Illinois, where downstate Democrats often join with Republicans to support gun rights. In 2013 it was black lawmakers, most from the Chicago area, who derailed a measure that required stiffer penalties for felons and gang members caught with weapons.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said it was a critical to combating gang violence, but the black caucus — joined by civil rights icon the Rev. Jesse Jackson — said it was too focused on locking up young men.
They argued lawmakers should be trying to improve education and jobs, not increase incarceration.

Where is the US Department of Justice on these "Repeat Offenders"? We KNOW where the Black Caucus is from this article - BUT do most of the citizens in Chicago know that it is their elected Leadership that is keeping these Killers on the street? Do D. Wade and his family know it?

This isn't "senseless violence" - the REASON is the Chicago Courts & Judicial System is soft on Repeat Gun Offenders -- THIS is Fixable.
I cannot believe how many people are unaware of repeated offenders, not to mention, each crime they commit, gets worse and worse....
This isn't about gun violence, it's about putting criminals away for good, period.

there is something major wrong with our judicial system.

my son who is an officer tells me that repeated offenders are left go too many times to count...not to mention the waste in tax payers money, in the paper work, public defenders, etc....

this country is crazy
