You can still have the rich getting richer, and the poor getting poorer and have the median figure increase.
It is measured as median income, and yes, the rich will get richer since they have more to invest. As opposed to letting it bother you, you should allow it to inspire you. The study mentioned there was a decrease in poverty as well, which is good news.
WASHINGTON — For American families, household incomes rose strongly in 2015, breaking a yearslong pattern of income stagnation. The median household’s income in 2015 was $56,500, an increase of 5.2 percent over the previous year, the Census Bureau reported Tuesday.
Baloney! That's what they want you to believe. This is an election year, and an important one.
What could possibly be the reason for the increase? What has improved? Nothing!
Issue is even if income went up 5.3% , prices went up much more than that at least in my city.
Housing , food, insurance,etc
Yes gasoline is lower but for most it's not as big an expense as housing and food.
The recession was actually better if one had a job (and most people were employed) since prices were low across the board. Even if you didn't get a raise you'd be better off than now.
There were some great deals across the board.
Best opportunities were during the recession, ask the rich. They will tell you about all the great deals they made during the recession where they made a fortune. Cheap property they bought that's doubled or even tripled.
Look at Phoenix or Vegas .
Wow--there is good economic news and all the Obama haters cannot deal with it. It does not reinforce their world view, so they spin it with a million reasons it is not true.
It is still not as good as when Bill Clinton was in office, but there was that Bush recession thing to come back from.

It doesn't bother me. I am just making sure we know what the terms are - and if things are truly better, I have no problem with it.
I am looking through the numbers in the Census Bureau now and will follow up.
Are you claiming to be "independent"? You've never uttered a critical word about King Obama until today.
Until today? I have not mentioned him today in good light, or bad light. I have not mentioned him at all. You are not getting it. See, not being obsessed about him is one of the freedoms of being independent. You wouldn't know, since you feel compelled to bring him into every conversation along with come childish name like 'king obama'. I didn't vote for him, and I don't care about him.
