Do you believe that is a big reason why people want the liberals to stay in power?

I think it's fair to assume that many people simply want as much as they can get from the government.

That's not so down the red middle of the country. A lot of people there think it's a disgrace to one's self and one's country to seek handouts from the government. People there prefer to be independent from the government. It helps explain why the Democrats lost control there. People are afraid Democrats will pass more welfare and entitlements.

There is a certain demographic that believes it's their right to "free" stuff.

Lot of women get used to it. But we do have to support children.

In a word yes and why ?
Stability ——government jobs have one seventh the change of private sector and for the most part are union protected plus benefits and retirement
Private sector is a great place to get beat up

As I recall, the President is theoretically a republican and the Senate has a republican majority. So, what's with the "stay in power" thing?

The republicans can't hand out corporate welfare to Exxon and Goldman Sachs fast enough. At least the Dems spread it around a little.
