Yes, but we have the same thing going for females, plus beauty pageants.

Bodybuilding contests are a form of beauty pageants. Most men don't have the symmetry or muscle bellies to ever compete no matter how hard they work. The same can be said for women when it comes to facial structure/features and body symmetry/low body fat. Beauty pageants and bodybuilding contests both judge human appearance.

Anything that gives people a rating or pass/fail score on looks is essentially a beauty pageant. When men and women set standards for what they want physically - that is dismissing many other people that don't meet the standard. Why do you think places like Hooters want young, slim, pretty women? Why are most Hollywood leading men handsome...Pitt, Gibson, Tatum, Clooney, Depp, DiCaprio, etc? Why aren't the John Goodman types equally represented in leading roles?
