Because you all are going to make a big deal of this and wrap yourselves in knots over something that, while well-intentioned, is going down in flames. Even liberal Coloradans, like me, aren't supporting it, because it's a terribly designed program.

I appreciate the sentimate in regards others health and stress, but what's the point of saying no one other than you should be allowed to discuss it?
Do you think reading international news is silly , as well?
Hope it passes. We already have a bunch of businesses that moved here to escape California's taxes and regulations. Might a well get some from Colorado as well.
it sounds good on the surface, but what are they not telling the people? for instance, is it portable? if someone covered under the system goes on vacation to disneyland are they covered if they have to stay in a california hospital?
The post clearly states:
Quote:
Beneficiaries would be permitted to choose their primary care professionals and still be covered if they are temporarily living, or traveling, in another state.
$25 billion seems a little low for coverage of 5.5 million people without deductibles or co-payments. Like most government programs, you should probably double or triple their predictions to arrive at the actual cost.
That would be a reason to move from that state if you are a producer and a reason to move there if you are a uh non producer. Good luck Colorado if that obomanation passes.
Exactly. Some of the wealthiest will leave Colorado and more poor people will move in.
I hope it passes because 10% is complete bs... way too low... more like 25% to make it sustainable.... I hate when liberals put this up knowing that it will never pass...
They probably thought folks would go for 10 percent, figuring that they could then raise the percent after the new system is in place. Bait and switch.

It will cover less than 5.5 Million, since those under Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare are excluded. You'd need to look at the demographics to get the exact number covered under ColoradoCare.
I'm more interested in how the taxes will impact their economy, especially the 10% tax on unearned income.
I wonder how they'll define residency? Could someone in need of major medical treatment drive into the state, get a driver license and/or rent a room and then be covered instantly?

and there in lies another problem, the tax that is imposed. it wont be enough, so the state will raise it, along with the insurance premiums they collect.
