History is written by those who win. If we had lost the American Revolution, the Boston Tea Party would now be regarded as nothing more than vandalism.
I'm not really sure why I felt compelled to point that out, other than the fact that there is always two sides to every story.
This used to be true, but it it took a sharp turn somewhere around post Vietnam War-ish and then became all but an obsolete idea with the internet.
We simply are privy to thousands of viewpoints at any given time; this is unprecedented. There is no longer any way to hide and whitewash gigantic pieces of information, whether that I information is popular or inconvenient.
I'm not saying what is out there is all true (that would be hilarious) but simply that history being written by the victors as if it is like in the past, when people had no choice but to believe as they had no other source, is obsolete.
These protests are historical and are captured for history, like the protests of the women's suffragette movement, the civil rights movement, the anti-Vietnam movement.
The protests are one way for the common person to speak out about the election, instead of just the talking heads in the media. It's a valid exercise of freedom in our democracy.
...
So protests serve a purpose in our history.
I agree.
I don't agree with the violent side but I do agree with these ideas.
In the spirit of the thread, you know that the percentage of Trump supporters who are KKK members and neo-Nazis is extremely tiny, yes?
Yes. In the spirit (context) of the post I replied to, the size of the hate group isn't the issue.

What pisses me off is few in the media or our elected officials are discouraging them from protesting and riots.
While I don't think Trump himself is a racist or Nazi, (although he reportedly kept a copy of Hitler's speeches by his bedside), he seems to be quite popular with those who share some if not all of the beliefs of the Klan and the other White Supremacist groups that endorsed and supported his candidacy.
And what does Obama have to do with Trump's image as an endorsee of the Nazis and the Klan?
Tinfoil hat is on it's way!
