Reparations is an extremist idea that only caters to a small group of voters.
Politicians always come up with stuff like this when they know they have absolutely no chance of getting it off the ground in an attempt to further drive the people apart.
It appeals to the SJW wing of the statist left...which is now in control of that side.
They are SJW's but they are no more statist than authoritarian right wingers, they just believe the state should do different things. One believes in justice, the other believes in heavy police and military presence.
