That the chair is chosen from the FRB Board seems to elude some.

That Yellen will minimally serve until her term expires means there is no immediate vacancy to fill.

Most chairs serve multiple 4 year terms crossing presidential and majorities.

Reagan appointed Greenspan who served as chair through 4 presidents.

Bush 2 appointed Bernanki who served as chair through the half-way mark of Obama's second term.
