This is a fairly simple question, should the US restrict immigration?

If you believe in sanctuary cities, I can't see how it would be possible to answer yes.

Absolutely yes!!! I am a legal immigrant & worked extra hard at my education & job to stay here. No special privileges or loopholes for me. If you want to come here & stay here then prove yourself. USA is like an Ivy League school. Only the best of the best who aligns with the values & culture should be admitted. You lost your edge in the world because you became too flexible & let just anybody in. Have a strict vetting process & rules. When you add several filters to any system, you control the quality of the final product. Its ok for an individual & a nation to have high standards.

Exactly, our immigration policies should resemble Canada's.

You cannot have a welfare state and stiil accept those poor huddled masses.

I see none of the people pro sanctuary city people are showing up to support the idea. I'm guessing they can't figure out the correlation.

Bbbut.... Europeans are illegals! All Latin Americans are Indians! And Mexico owned parts of the US for like, 20 years! The poem on the Statue of Liberty supersedes immigration laws!

(Am I missing any?)

The US already restricts immigration.

The federal govt is impotent to protect the border hence the states and cities left holding the bag, then get blamed for applying their morals and resources to solve the issue.

Yes, immigration should be tied to employment levels. When unemployment drops to 0%, we start letting people immigrate.
