POTUS now pushing lie that money coming in to NATO based on his latest performance. The reality is that all the countries in NATO have been moving to that 2% of GDP rule for a couple of years.
Part of this complaint is a cover for the domestic audience.
The US military budget is severely bloated but we are expected to see it as normal.
People should make no mistake about it, our bloated military is not so big because we have to cover Europe's defense, Europe's combined military power is awesome already. The US budget is so big because there is money to be made by the military suppliers, who are always first in line at the public trough and have slick expensive lobbyists in the swamp. The US budget would be as big no matter what, no matter if we had no allies or many.
POTUS claims his arms deal will create Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. I think what will happen is an ammo shortage here in the US. That way the NRA can come in to tell their followers the Gov't is stealing all the ammo.
"if we don’t start caring about whether people tell the truth or not, it’s going to be literally impossible to restore anything approaching a reasonable political discourse. Politicians have always shaded the truth. But if you can say something that is provably false, and no one cares, then you can’t have a real debate about anything."
"I firmly believe that you can draw a straight line from Rush Limbaugh through Fox News through present-day websites like Breitbart and the explosion in “fake news” that played such a big role in the 2016 campaign. And that’s how someone like Trump can wind up in the Oval Office."

He is 110% correct.
It's sad, and already scary, that this way of running the Trump administration is becoming the new norm, and folks are quickly being desensitized to the BS and accepting it as the new norm.
This is not something to be complacent about.
