It really confuses me as to why women who have abortions are not to be punished for what they did.

Trump said there should be a punishment, but then he withdrew that statement after he got into trouble for it.

But why?

Logically it makes sense. If abortion is murder, and most Republicans think it is, then logically you'd punish someone for committing murder in order to deter future murder.

There isn't a legal definition that states abortion is murder so no.
If there ever is a legal definition that states this then all sorts of things need to be reevaluated.

There are legal contradictions, to be certain. 38 states have fetal homicide laws, including very blue California and Illinois. Why would some be charged with fetal homicide in those states, but others wouldn't?

with Republicans in control of nearly all government in America, abortion should be well on its way to being outlawed, no?

Wondering what Democrats could possibly do to stop them.

If in four years abortion is still legal, who will be blamed for this?

I doubt it.

well, why not?

I'm a Democrat but I honestly hope the Republicans outlaw abortion. I'm convinced the Democrats lose far more votes from being pro-choice than they gain. And there's no way to convince religious people that abortion isn't murder. You can't argue with religion. It's literally an invisible deity floating in the sky who NEVER talks, and possibly left some books behind thousands of years ago.

Just outlaw it and we can see if Republicans enjoy the consequences of it. Most abortions seem to be done by low-income Democrats, especially blacks and Latinos, so let's get ready for those Democrat reinforcements delivered by storks.

2 things here: why do you like the idea of low income people having more kids since their kind usually don't put that much into society and, since women own their bodies, us guys really have no say so over that. Period.

No, anyone who supports small government should also support letting a woman govern her own body without the help of the federal government telling her what she can and cannot do. Also, this idea of making abortion illegal comes from people who clearly know nothing about abortion or why a woman would make such a difficult choice.

It does make me wonder, if, as many say a woman should be able to abort her child even when it's viable and not be considered murder than why if at the same time if a pregnant woman is murdered it can count as two? Seems to me a bit hypocritical.
