I was watching a documentary about the Iraq war and one thing that was brought up was that the U.S immediately broke up the Iraqi military instead of using them, as such a LOT of looting and other crimes in Iraq happened that wouldn't have otherwise. Why was America so stupid? Seems at the very least letting them at least patrol and essentially help to be used as a law enforcement would have been a smart move.
Because American leadership in Washington was tragically stupid at the time, and we doubled down on that stupidity by handing the reigns of in-country power and decision making to the likes of that idiot L. Paul Bremer.
They were stupid enough to think that they could transform an Arab society into a Jeffersonian Democracy, and even planned to institute a flat tax in Iraq.
You wanna talk about a cluster****! I can't think of a single decision made in the first two years of that war that made any sense.
