So we're still blaming Russia for "swaying public opinion".
Hmmmm
When do we call out the mainstream media for the same thing? Because I watched the NY Times on Facebook the days before the election. One cooked up cockamamie anti-Trump hit-piece after another. Often times less than an hour apart.
Assuming Russia DID do some hacking, no one has seriously disputed the content of the emails they allegedly dumped. How is a foreign country revealing the truth somehow worse than domestic terrorist media outlets lying to sheep incessantly for days? I'd like someone involved at the top to explain that one to us in detail.
....and by the way, again, if Russia did do it, they probably stole the idea from Obama going after Netanyahu.
Here is what hillary said 4 days later..."Whenever something doesn't go Donald's way, he claims it's rigged against him. I am horrified that he refuses to accept the results of the election. Questioning the results of an American election, makes Donald Trump a danger to democracy."
All these statements are based on the assumptions that:
(1) There is no evidence of tampering (we have evidence of Russia hacking large, secure American systems); and
(2) There is nothing amiss in the results vs. the data beforehand (there is something amiss in the results vs the data beforehand...doesn't mean the results are wrong, but it bolsters the theory that Russia hacked the election).
The CIA has investigated the Russian hacking of late and has apparently determined that Russia did indeed interfere with our election. No matter which person you voted for, all Americans should be very concerned about this. Very concerned. I would be, even if my guy won. Absolutely.
Swaying public opinion is the name of the game, so to speak.
Hillary and Co. could not dig up enough dirt on Trump to neutralize their own dirty deeds.
That is not the point. Trump supporters rejected every piece of evidence (even evidence that came from Trump himself in past interviews and conversations). Being motivated by hatred and anger, they didn't care.
On the other hand, when the FBI opened a new investigation into Anthony Wiener's laptop (and although Comney said there wasn't anything specific) many people decided Hillary is guilty - even without any evidence. Then, when the FBI declared the investigation over (without new evidence found), these people weren't convinced and still supported Trump.
Bottom line - no amount of dirt on Trump mattered.

Absolutely.
That being said, did Russia's interference altered the elections results? Can anyone say that if the hacking didn't happen, (or was treated differently), Hillary would have won?
I think that is the real question that Hillary's supporters avoid answering. Were fabricated emails published as real? If the democrats can bring proof of that, things are different. Otherwise, if only true email exchanges were made public, not much can be said.
Without clear reference to the results, it all remains a theoretical argument.
Sure, in the next elections things will be different, the FBI will take massive preventive measures and the parties themselves will invest much more in security. Everyone will be alert.
Other than that, we can only agree that this hacking is very concerning, but not much more.
