Dude what world are you living in what the Philippines has barely qualifies as a Navy. It's a poor country. The Philippines cannot stop China from pushing them around, what don't you understand about this?
It's all about the US and the U.N. and how they handle it. That's all they have and the only chance they got. Fact.
Ah, so having hundreds of naval craft = no navy. Got it
Having over 40K personnel and having been in existence for 118 years = no navy. Got it
And yes, we have been increasing our naval presence since the July ruling, which makes sense as the Philippines is our ally, but it not about the US and certainly not about the Taiwan Trump call, it is about the conflict of which we have only recently, ever so slightly begun to get involved.
And I will not be taking "facts" from someone who did not know the Philippines has a Navy.
Oh and as for "world" I am living in, I am an oceanographer who lived in the Philippines for several years.
The issues with China and the South China Sea, date back millenia. The current conflict goes back to the 70s. You sound like those people who blame Obama for 9/11.
The reality is the fight over the South China Sea has nothing to do with us, they targeted our glider because we were in PHILIPPINE waters, which is who they really have a beef with over the 2016 ruling regarding the Spratly islands.
Regardless , it has continued right on through the Obama administration so why blame Trump for this latest incident .
I didn't realize a US NAVY SCIENCE VESSEL was a $10.00 item off a Walmart shelf . My bad .
I hope you're being deliberately ignorant.
1. Not a US NAVY SCIENCE VESSEL (why the caps? btw) it is a glider, specifically a model called a Slocum glider, made by Teledyne, and counts about $150k depending on how it is outfitted.
2. Civilian owned and operated, while on a navy run oceanographic research ship.
3. The Navy rarely uses slocum gliders as they tend to use propeller based gliders. They do however frequently collaborate on research with civilian scientists.

I don't blame trump. It has nothing to do with him. Or Obama. It has to do primarily with the Philippines and the ruling regarding the Spratly Islands.

Yes, did you read anything that was actually from a reputable source?
I know lots of conservatives who take the time to actually learn the facts, or read a single article, before making dozens of posts. You know you make the entire conservative party look irrational when you won't acknowledge simple facts and then proclaim yourself a conservative.
I could make a thread title "Logan Savage is a little pansy boy" and it wouldn't be factual just because of the title would it?
I'm sure our president elect will take the time to follow up and fully (meaning in more than 140 characters) explain to the American people WHY he thinks China should keep the drone they seized.
Yeah, but the explanation will actually come from Ivanka, or Pence, or Conway. Perhaps that is the biggest role Ivanka will play in a trump administration - Official Translator of Nonsense.
