He's not a conservative, he's a Trump nationalist.

He picked a very conservative cabinet though, because he won.

If Hillary won, she could have picked her cabinet, but she lost.

He's not a conservative when compared to Ted Cruz. Trump is different in that he's sane, and so far seems to want to serve the country rather than a document and a set of ideals that only serve a select few with a weak grasp on reality.

He's what I call a "pragmatic conservative". Someone that people will actually vote for. Someone that will actually get things done that matter to the people who voted him into office. So needless to say that's not really like any other conservative we've seen in decades, so I understand the confusion.

Protect the boarders
Rebuild the Military
End waste, fraud, and abuse
scale back federal regulations
Conserve the 2nd amendment
End stupid nation building wars

But to be honest, I don't think he is trying to be "conservative" or "liberal", he just wants to do what he thinks is right and honest. People believed him and that's why he won. If people wanted the most conservative person, then Cruz would have beat him.

well, He's very similar to the European far-right - rooted primarily in classical conservatism, while the American right is/was rooted in classical liberalism.

An actual conservative is either Eisenhower or an Old Rightist. He is more of a pre-Pearl Harbor Old Right.
