Rachel Maddow recently cornered Kellyann Conway with how folks can now funnel money to Trump via his various businesses. Ms. Conway usual deflections didn't actually work. But she gave it a good go.

Regardless of who Trump appoints to run his businesses, the money eventually comes to him.

The only way out of this ethical quagmire is to sell his businesses and put the funds in federal bonds or ??? where he doesn't make a profit from the things he tweets, supports... as president.

Sometimes you just have to shake your head at the extraordinary wealth, arrogance and conflict of interest of someone like Trump. Harry Truman lead the nation through the last months of WW2, stood against Soviet expansionism in Europe and presided over the beginning of a remarkable post war growth of the American economy.

He could have cashed in on the presidency but did not. His later years were marked by frugality and humility. When he died his only major asset was the family home in Missouri. The home itself was inherited from his wife's mother. When his days in Washington were over he and his wife drove themselves home in the family car. Not even any Secret Service protection. How times have changed.

Trump recognizes that it’s “visually important, as president, to in no way have a conflict of interest," and "repeatedly insists that he did not seek the presidency to enrich himself; making America great again is more important to him than making money."

https://www.bloomberg.com/view/artic...oo-big-to-sell

It really wouldn't be all that hard to do. It's not like he runs a "global conglomerate on the order of Apple, General Electric or Berkshire Hathaway."

1) Sell off the licensing deals.
2) Sell twelve golf courses, two hotels, one resort, one building and liquidate a handful of real estate partnerships.

Done. Conflict of interest put to rest and he and his family can focus on what they say is truly important -- making America great.

How about it, Mr. Trump? Do you wanna become President or what?

Before the election, it was all about ...
“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters, O.K.?”

Do you really think it's likely you'll 'get away with murder' once inaugurated?

Sure he could. The Republicans are all about we-won-you-lost-ha-ha-ha. They aren't going to rein him in.

Since he knows more than anyone else, sooner or later he'll make a colossal blunder and bring them all down.

Another example of Trump's deflecting the real reason behind an action by claiming he has a more pure motive: not true most of the time, but not that easy to sift wheat from chaff and understand the real reason motivating his actions/comments...
In the case of closing his foundation, likely it is trying to stop the NY AG's investigation into its funding sources and contributions....

Trump Plans To Dissolve His Foundation; N.Y. Attorney General Pushes Back : The Two-Way : NPR

The Deutsch bank loans and the bank's suit for complicity in RE mortgages debacle crime will be a cesspool to investigate---and one the Justice dept under the new Trumpette won't make any real effort to clean up...

He is really the one who is a nasty person....one big sinkhole of greed, narcissism, vindictiveness, and untruth.

Not only criticized, but caught up in a web of financial entanglements that will make Watergate look like small potatoes.

"The Embassy of Kuwait allegedly cancelled a contract with a Washington, D.C. hotel days after the presidential election, citing political pressure to hold its National Day celebration at the Trump International Hotel instead."

Trump is used to getting away with flaunting the law and paying a settlement if a conviction looks close.

But that's not an option any more and while Democrats may not want Pence as president, I suspect Republicans are quite fine with it.

This is already a settled issue.

And, you lost, get over it.

First, this answer doesn't address the topic at hand. Second, it's not about "winning" or "losing" at this point. It's about what's best for our country, it's about devolving into a kleptocracy on the vague promise of manufacturing jobs and 2nd amendment/Roe V. Wade culture wars.
