Firstly, the soldiers don't make the decision to start a war. The politicians we have elected, specifically, the president and the congress, do that. In a representative democracy like we have, the people or us, decide to go to a war.

Secondly, they choose to lay down their lives for us voluntarily. Maybe they fought a wrong war but they still fought for us.

But somehow the soldiers, who can't make the decision to go to the war, are responsible for the war we told them to go die for?

If anybody wants to be angry, shouldn't they be angry at, I don't know, ourselves? Why don't we blame ourselves for electing those politicians who started wars?

I see virtually nothing on any of the boards or comments here that are negative towards those that serve. In fact, there seems to be near universal support for members of the military. Do you have examples?

I have a feeling you had a specific incident in mind when you created this post OP. Why don't you share it with us?

I have only seen the utmost respect and appreciation for soldiers in the media and everywhere really.

Americans have largely been pro-troops since we started wearing yellow ribbons in 1991.

I don't have animosity toward them (some good friends of mine are in the military) but it most definitely is their choice to carry out orders. I kind of wish it wasn't true, but they're responsible for their actions, even if they originally signed up to do good.
