Agreed. We've 'relic'd' ourselves into leaving troops in the way in case something silly did happen.

really? lets say putin took over europe, do you really think they would still be trading partners of ours? not to mention a take over of europe would give the russians the necessary capability to handle an invasion of the US on their terms. you might be short sighted enough to let europe go, but there are many that are not.

I think you can make the case for saying we don't belong in many areas of the world where we currently have troops, but not in this case.
Name these two sovereign states which Russia invaded in the last 9 years? For Russia, Lithuania is not necessary. As Europe in general. If Russia would like to grab Lithuania, it can make for a few hours without loss for Russia. And not a single NATO country does not stand up for her. It is a fact. How many times in the past 300 years, Russia has attacked Europe? This is the answer to this nonsense.
Now ask yourself how many countries attacked the US for the past 30 years, including in Europe ?!

While we could debate that separately, the fact is that we are currently a member of NATO, and that membership means we have given our word to protect our allies. If our word means anything, if we are the type of people who keep our commitments, then we are obligated to be there for our allies.

I love it when the D's tell me this isn't A) about starting a war with a nuclear super-power or B) staging a coup d'etat to steal the election from Trump. There is no answer C).

Are you seriously suggesting that Russia has any interest in or capability of taking over Europe?

This Russia hysteria the D's suffer from would be the comedy hit of the year if it wasn't "this close" to starting WW3. Yet STILL, the D's tremble at the thought of Trump starting WW3? It really is a mental disorder of some sort.

Technically speaking, France invaded Germany first in WWII. I wouldn't call France the aggressor like Himmler did though.
After the occupation of France, France was an ally of Germany. France became an ally, thanks to Charles De Gaulle, who negotiated with Stalin did not include France on the side of the vanquished

Russia rescued Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine from Lithuanian aggression;
from Mongols, from Ottomans who conquered Crimea,
from Germans in WWI and Nazis in WWII;
Russia will rescue Europe from NATO soon enough.

Just don't panic. Your hero Trump will make it all better on the 20th. Then he can meet his buddy Putin and go away with him for the weekend...

But this will not be the United States has never kept their commitments and during World War I and the second, if we talk about the history. Recent events in Turkey showed that the US will never stand up for its allies in the real world
