These truly are things that have been seen before. This older generation and many of that old generations offspring's of such oppositional mindsets, who flood this site, are likely among the same ones who never acknowledge the obstructionist position of Republican for the past 8 yrs. They selectively omit via their selective Amnesia many things, as long as it helps them hold on to their old mentalities.
Heck we saw these same things before, we saw them When Kennedy Spoke, We saw them when LBJ spoke and we saw them when MLK spoke. These types will go to their graves chasing the past.
Some are money worshipers hung up on Trumps claim of wealthy, to the point they have no concern "how" he got it, just the same as the mentality of Old Confederates did not care how they got money, and those who worshiped them did not care how they got money. Because 'respect for general humanity" is not a high priority. Money and the fictional illusion that they will get a repeat of the white only prosperity that once existed. They don't get it, that criminal and vile system will not return, no matter how much they lust for it. It's about on Par with looking at a person during the Plantation era, whom had their home looted by the Confederacy to supply soldiers, while the wealthy would not allow any access to their home and certainly would not give any % of what's in their home or allow their kids to go fight. They knew they could rely on the poor to rush to the line to take a bullet, and they could clean out the farm productions of the poor even when it left woman and child with nothing for the winter. That type of die hard "guard the wealthy" has never left these mentality types mindset. It never will.

The people who respect dignity, and have the character to appreciate humanity, and understand what is the value of unity and self respect with a determination to not only support but promote equality. Is simply not elements of much concern for these types. We saw it during their conventions, we saw it at their rally's and we see it as they gloat in worship behind the man who got up and told them, "help make the wealthy more wealthy and we will consider if we can throw you a few crumbs", they became overjoyed. "You can't fix that type of ignorance", it has been passed on for generations and many are already grooming their next group with that same ideological mentality.

These are many of the same people who saw absolutely no wrong in Bush's invasion of Iraq, nor did many of them even come to term when their own kids were sent off into that war. They did not even consider to hold him responsible when the economy nearly caved in behind his policies nor did they hold him responsible for the allowances of greed to ravage the landscape.

They fought and south to minimize and deny any and all works of President Obama, and banded together because he did not promote an agenda to appease only white people. They rushed to meld their ideals with that of the Tea party types and fought at mid terms to bring more opposition and they are certainly not going to acknowledge and give President Obama any credit at this point.

I'd say, those whom are of the democratic mindset, should have been more vocal and more out front, but the differene is the democrats don't fight with the vile of that which is part of republican system. Democrats don't play the game of voter interference, and they don't draw lines to try and give white right wingers an edge, that is purely a republican game.

We as democratic people will push continual for equality, fair play, justice and respect of individualism. the best thing about this current socialogical mess, is now society can see more clearly the race based lines, as time moves forth, it is better to work with the ability to identify what you are working to abolish, where before many played hide the hand, and cover the face. Now they are out in the open. It makes it better for the democrats in the long term, because fairness and equality will always win out over the long term. We saw it took many years and decades to push civil rights, and now it won't take us decades to push further for equality across the spectrum and respect for diversity and all the values of the Constitution's premise. It is far better when an enemy against the system of equality shows its hands and faces, They no longer can hide and deny when facts come to surface...

President Obama gave a great speech which resonates with many, no one expected the die hard Trump followers to watch it, or pay attention and certainly not to give any credit to it. They are demonstrating they did just as it was expected of them to do. Yet, they come with commentary about something they did not even hear. That's how typical the ignorance they promotes continues to demonstrate itself.

If you did not watch it, you could have served yourself better to simply 'shut up", but that is not possible when people have a rabid motivations to continue to demonstrate the same vile and contemptuous mentality they showed at their rally's and their conventions.

Over-all, everyone can think their own thoughts, but in the big picture of it all. Truth prevails... so... for those who want to condemn his speech, continue your plan, for those who embraced his speech, continue your plan. The speech has been given, and time will demonstrate the value of it as time moves along. Denial nor Opposition will never make it go away, it is recorded in the History of American, the minute it was given and concluded.
Well said, rep for you.
As for responses from the right? pure hate.

Default Nobody should have bothered watching Obama's 'farewell' speech last night

Seriously -- why would anyone waste their valuable time watching another ridiculous speech filled with lies and half truths from a career politician on his way out the door.

Enough speeches!

It's time for some action in Washington DC.

Putting a businessman in charge is a good start and I sincerely hope Trump doesn't let us down.

I certainly didn't watch. I did see the first few seconds when he did his famous stutter, and switched to ION.

OMG, you really believe you have the inside story, don't you? racism is alive and well, has always been, especially when it comes to reverse racism, but the violence is what has esculated/.

I'll answer it. Because if Obama, as the first black president, didn't do anything substantial to help, then why should any future president be expected to do anything either?

Take note Trump. This was an inspiring speech, not a pep rally.
His speeches are written for him by good speech writers who know how to evoke emotion and make it sound like it comes from HIS heart. A careful listen to his speeches and an eye on his actions will convince any clear minded objective person that the two are not in sync. His "walk doesn't match his talk."

If you've ever heard him speak off the cuff, without a teleprompter, you'd realize he's far from coherent on his own.

And, yes, no rude chants and no insults. Maybe that's because only the left does that at Republican gatherings (and at confirmation hearings such as is happening right now for all to see). So many on the left are disrespectful, hateful and disruptive, period. And Obama has encouraged that directly and indirectly for 8 years.

Had he told the truth about Obamacare he would have never won the first election.

His failings as president is the longest list in the history of the United States of America.

He told us back in 1995 why he turned against whites and has carried out that hate throughout his terms in office.

Business owners were told: “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

Citizens were told: "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor."

He has no respect for police officers.

He has no respect for our Constitution.

He filled his administration with his czar cronies.

He drove our National Debt to the highest it's been since the Great Depression.

Because of him, racial division is at an all time high.

Refusal to recognize ISIS as our enemy.

Stating that he'll pass 'his own laws'.

Refusal to work with Congress, making the vow that as soon as the GOP puts 'anything' on his desk he will automatically veto it.

Allowing the IRS to target his enemies.

Benghazi

The list is endless.

He is a dictator who assisted Hillary's campaign for the sole purpose of having her continue his regime.

His obsession over the Democrats losing the election has resulted in his continual false and demented statements that our country is now doomed. He is responsible for tearing our country apart.

He is the epitome of The Divided States of America.
you should review your unjustifiable list, if you want to stand upon it, truth is if you engage such an attempt, your list would vanish. I would not expect that you'd undertake such a challenge.
Its truly amazing how you have not one word to say, about the mess he inherited, nor did you say one thing about Republican Taking a Pledge to Oppose him, nor did you say anything about Republican who fought every aspect of ACA, including parts that would support people keeping doctors, as well as the public options.

You go on and absorb yourself in the fictions and drama that you base your concepts and we will stick with the real truths. And the Real Truths have not been included in your list.

Democrats have spoken of unity since his start, republican not only promoted race division, when they feared that they'd no longer have white first entitlement to anything and everything. They saw and see that American's diversity is not in favor by the base numbers of continuing to be a dominant white society.
therefore, you issues are within you. The inability to accept after all these years, the premise of equality, and equilibrium across the board. But, fret on, because time will bring more diversity, and more unity and there will be equality and there will become elements of equilibrium improving as the days come and go. Some people still cling to the George Wallace yelling, Of "Segregation, today, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever",.... and every day his words get squashed more and more and it will be made more irrelevant as time moves forth. so you can pursue you fight, and may you get the same result that your Confederate brethren got over 150+ yrs ago, you might still fight their battles, but the war is over. maybe many are still like that lost solder in the wilderness; still fighting, because he has not been told the war is over and he just can't digest it.

Reading is a wonderful thing, especially when one choose to read for the pursuit of learning.

One might be better off today with a more open mind, if their elders had even listen or taken time read and do so with an open mind. this is good info for the open mind...

We ALL hope Trump doesn't let us down.

Indications so far aren't very encouraging.

I think we're in for a VERY entertaining four years.

Senior Pubs in congress will likely be very uncomfortable throughout the term wondering what calamity they'll have to put a smiling hyperpartisan face on next. They probably won't be able to sleep well for the next forty-eight months. They now own everything. And their "leader" is an insecure 70 year old adolescent. Kinda like that younger version in N Korea.

I'm glad I'm not in their shoes.

Please...

If a Pub prez had presided over a tripling of the stock market, the GOP fatcats would be turning cartwheels. Since it was Obama, they endlessly slag on his success.

We all remember that last two GOP presidents and the sad economic state those two left the country in.

Don't be a H8er.

Binge watching 2nd season of "Sledge Hammer" on youtube was far more satisfying than the final episode of "Idiot, with sycophants on exhibit".

He can't even put a sentence together when it's written down for him.

Good riddance to the stuttering, stammering moron in chief of the commie of the month club.
