They addressed a representative, just as you agree you would do. There is nothing here to say they harassed anyone or addressed anyone outside of this individual.
well, as long as you agree not all police officers are the same, we really have nothing to argue about.
If not all police officers are bad cops, what is the point of writing that message on his shopping bag? Treat him like everybody else, problem solved.
If the company as no policy against employees writing personal messages on customers products then this should be fine. Any message should be a-ok, because donut baggers opinions matter.
When I have a problem with a company I make a phone call. The person on the other end didn't make the policy. They most likely did not cause the problem. They get the ear full anyway.
I'll bet you do the same.
That is such an ignorant and round about way to say "YES, I would support the employee who mistreated a police officer simply because of his uniform". Can't say I am surprised by your answer, but still in shock that you are blind to the fact that treating all of one group poorly because of the actions of the few is a counterproductive course.
You also realize that when you call a company you are speaking to a CUSTOMER SERVICE REP., whose job is to speak with disgruntled customers. The Police department also have such people. Perhaps our doughnut genius could have called them to complain that an officer was patronizing his employer's store.
Being a cop is not a race, it's a job and a uniform.
your right, so what point are you making, that it was ok to treat this officer like this?
I think not....it would be the same if the officer were working there part time, and a black man came up and ordered a box of donuts and the officer off duty would write on the box, Black lives do not matter.

I've never argued that. You can go back and read where I've said over and over and over that thousands of police interactions a day go just as they should.

The problem isn't solved. It's only the protests that have forced us to face the problem.

So you agree what you would go off on someone that had nothing personal to do with your problem.
People do this all the time in many instances. Meet a guy at a party.
"What do you do for a living"?
I work for the cable company.
"Really, how come my internet is always losing it's signal and when I call I am put on hold for 30 minutes"?
But if you started making phone calls to every single company, then you would be lunatic. If you started harassing everybody working in that particular company, you would be lunatic.
But posting on social media isn't just as lunatic?
If the officer had a issue, he should have notified the manager or the corporation. Or let his departments communication unit do so. A simple conversation could have resolved this.
That would have shown who was the better person. Without publicity. Without outrage.
But that wasn't what happened.
Neither involved gets any respect from me. And the ex-cop (wonder why?) who gave it to the website, rates even lower, as he seems to want to create more conflict in the community rather then reduce it.
I have no problem with either statement, Blue Lives Matter or Black Lives Matter. I do have a problem with people who try to put Only in front of either or try to make it seem like that is what is being said.
While the use by this employee was not appropriate, the response is not any better.

It's not just about writing messages on shopping bags.
Do some research on what officers have had done to their food by cop-haters. Broken glass in a hamburger. Mustard in a soft drink. Two that come to mind just over the past few months. But watch the videos out there of low lifes urinating in food, wiping hamburger buns on their butt, throwing food on the floor and then bagging it, and on and on.
Any officer who eats food while in uniform, that he/she does not see being prepared from start to finish is a fool nowadays. This from someone who is married to a retired officer.
One other thought - any donut shop owner who really wants to alienate local cops, raise your hand.
