They are going to keep 85% of The ACA and just rebrand it. More smoke and mirrors.
This is exactly what is going to happen. And the rubes on the right will hail it as the most wonderful thing ever and praise Donnie to high heaven for being so innovative. Watch and see. They will end up loving Obamacare as long as it's called Trumpcare. Just like many of them loved the ACA but hated Obamacare. These are Trump supporters. They're very easy to fool.
Medicare does not do an effective job at negotiating drug prices -- and in fact is so ineffective that it makes it harder for the private sector to try to do so.
Medicare doesn't negotiate drug prices.
So unless I'm misunderstanding your post, Part D is sold by private insurance companies, not Medicare. The insurance providers work directly with the pharmaceutical companies.
This is incoherent. He wants private insurance for everyone, but doesn't want the ACA. If you want to provide below-cost insurance to the poor and/or people with pre-existing conditions it has to be paid for. Whether through a mix of taxes, community rating, and a mandate to force the people getting screwed by community rating to still buy (the ACA exchange policies), or just a ton of tax money (the ACA medicaid expansion) someone has to pay for it. What is he going to do that is meaningfully different than what he is wiping away that makes the necessary sacrifices to meet the same goals -- and if it's only moderately different, well, the ACA is plenty flawed but once you have a status quo there is a real price tag to adjusting it. Replacing the ACA with something similar to the ACA might have political appeal but it's doing harm relative to the alternative of just letting the ACA stand.
I want Trump to come up with something better. I'm not counting on it but I hope I'm wrong. That said, it's hard to not be snarky here. We gave Wall Street trillions and didn't pay for it. We have absolutely wasted Trillions fighting useless wars and didn't pay for it. Why should this be different? (Not really addressing this question to you)
Addressed to you. If the only thing he does different is to allow the negotiating of the prices of drugs, that alone would make this better than Obamacare.
I wonder when righties are going to admit to being conned by a guy who will tell them anything they want to hear.
When did the left concerning Obama? I've said this over and over. You can't expect people to do things you refuse to do.
