Jennifer Holliday has canceled her appearance at Donald Trump’s inauguration event next week, calling her decision to perform a “lapse of judgement.”
In an open letter, provided exclusively to TheWrap, the “Dreamgirls” star apologized to the LGBT community, saying she was “uneducated on the issues that affect every American at this crucial time in history and for causing such dismay and heartbreak to my fans.”
Seems odd to apologize to the LGBT community for wanting to perform for the most progressive President-Elect in US history. When it comes to gay stuff, anyway.

His VP is one of the biggest enemies of the LGBT community in politics today. I'm sure that played a big role in her decision.
Hatred only appeals to a certain segment of this society and in the end - it doesn't pay. Trump represents the lowest common denominator and rejection and resistance will be strong. I predict the protests will be much yuuuuger than the inauguration. Good for her!
Did she just make this decision? If so, perhaps she was influenced by John Lewis' decision to skip the inauguration.
Boy, it's really nice to see he got under Trump's skin. Lewis is one of the most respected members of Congress and considered to be a Civil Rights hero. Trump tweeted "all talk, no action" about a man who almost died fighting for what he believes. In a way, it's ironic that Trump is bashing a man who marched with MLK, considering the timing. I wouldn't be too surprised if he was set up, but it's fun to watch (although it's disturbing too)
Anyway, there will be a lot more people joining the march the day after the inauguration than on Jan 20.
