Walmart overtook IBM as the country's largest private sector employer in the 80's. Mc Donalds and then Yum Brands ( Taco Bell) pushed IBM to 4th place.

NAFTA began under Reagan, VP Bush 1's pet project.
Bush 1 did the ceremonious signing thing with Canada and Mexico during his term, subject to Congress approval.
Newt took up the cause and was a major force in securing House approval.The House approved 234:200, with strong Republican support.
The Senate approved 61:38.
Some who advocated/voted for NAFTA are still in office.
And Bill Clinton signed it.

They'll find a way to blame Obama for job losses under Trump just as they've found a way to credit Trump for job creation under Obama. They're too partisan to understand they're the losers in the end. The more time they spend hating Democrats, the more regressive policies the GOP pushes through. But hey, maybe one day they'll get lucky and win the lottery. Can't have the big, oppressive government coming in after their money. Until then, enjoy further economic hardship and fewer opportunities!
GM (GM) said the job losses will hit 1,200 factory workers in Ohio and 800 in Michigan, though some of those workers may be offered other positions. The jobs will be eliminated in January.
General Motors on Wednesday announced plans to invest $900 million in three U.S. plants and also said it would lay off 2,000 workers because of slowing car sales.
GM said it plans to end the third shift at its Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant and at the Lordstown Assembly Plant in Ohio in January because sales of cars made at those plants are declining.
DETROIT - General Motors said Wednesday it is suspending a third shift at two plants in Michigan and Ohio to better align its product output in the U.S.
The move, taking affect in the the first quarter of 2017, is expected to affect 2,084 jobs, including 839 positions at GM's Lansing Grand River plant and 1,245 jobs at its site in Lordstown, Ohio site.
From the motor trend article, the Obama economy has reduced sales throughout 2015 and 2016 thus GM has decided to remove the 3rd shift production line. When Trump saves the economy, more jobs will be created.
Remember Obama was going to lower ocean levels. Most Americans would prefer a strong economy. Thankfully pro- business Trump was elected!!
