California’s bullet train could cost taxpayers 50% more than estimated — as much as $3.6 billion more. And that’s just for the first 118 miles through the Central Valley, which was supposed to be the easiest part of the route between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
I predict that by 2024, this project will be 200% over budget. Another "New Bay Bridge" scandal brought to you by the leftist politicians of California.

CalTRANs union is highly partisan (towards the left) and hold vast amounts of power in California. This is basic public knowledge.

As for the bullet train, did you see how high speed rail got voted through the assembly?

Just like ACA/ObamaCare it had pretty much 100% leftist/democrat support and nearly zero support from conservatives.

Also keep this in mind.

Jerry Brown came out AGAINST better oversight on high speed rail spending:

Moon Beam doesn't think government should be accountable for taking care of your taxpayer dollars.

Oh, you'll get HSR. It'll just cost you 4-8 times what you thought it would cost, and it'll be 10-15 years behind schedule.

OP is not acknowledging the deliberate Republican obstructionism that has caused the project to go way over budget.

From your source:

"The federal document outlines far-reaching management problems: significant delays in environmental planning, lags in processing invoices for federal grants and continuing failures to acquire needed property"

Now explain what that has to do with this claim of yours:

Why not do it as FL is?

First look: New Florida passenger train unveiled

Private Corp doing it, not the State.

Some neat pictures on the site.

That's easy, the Federal government isn't idiots.

When California Democrat politicians say, "Hey look at what we've TRIED to accomplish with the rail project, now give us the grants you promised us!"

The Feds respond, "Uh, you guys haven't done ****. The project is a total disaster. These grants are predicated on PROGRESS not EFFORT."

Then California democrats respond, "Wahhh wahhh. Give us the hundreds of millions you promised! At least we're trying!"

Ad infinitum.
