Looks as if the NYTimes can't back up their story about Rick Perry not knowing what the Secretary of Energy does. Reuters and others have pulled the story and apologized for it.
NYTimes, like WaPo, CNN, NBC, Buzzfeed, has totally discredited itself. Real journalism doesn't exist there now.
You really would think they would learn. Eventually.
I expect the NYT will be going the way of CNN. They have been caught in so many lies, and have been so biased, that no one that has any interest in honest, unbiased news can read/watch either.

Liberals cannot learn... it was only a matter of time before they go extinct...

So they've got the Hillary voter market locked in.
Not really fake news but just skimming the original article the issue is they're making wild accusations without substantiating them. If you're going to claim that he didn't know what the DOE is, you need to support that opinion with more than they did. The only basis for the support was a pretty weak statement by a political adviser which more or less stated the obvious. Rick Perry isn't a career bureaucrat who has spent 30 years working in the DOE so of course he needs to get up to speed on it. They doesn't mean he doesn't have a basic understanding of what they do. Even if you got some quotes from him saying he was looking forward to developing domestic energy supply, you can't get from there to he has no idea that the DOE also has responsibility for the nuclear arsenal which is where they went. Fake news would be inventing sources. This was more like a stupid opinion piece that was unsupported being passed off as real news. Not quite fake news but the definitely deserve the flack they're getting for it.

Makes you wonder what they will try next. Now that they have largely gutted the Democratic party and driven out the vast bulk of moderate voters, their market has shrunk pretty dramatically.
Advertising money is typically aimed at yournger people and richer people for obvious reasons.
With Fox news locking up most of the conservative viewership it leaves other media outlets left to frankly cater to left-leaning, younger demographics to stave off bankruptcy.
I'm not saying this as any sort of condemnation, just factual, as we know FOX is to the right.
As such, that's why you see more traditionally neutral news sources like CNN etc. heading to the left to keep financially viable.
I'm not saying right or wrong, just point out what I feel is a pretty obvious fact. *shrug*
