A Texas lawmaker who wants to criminalize abortion says he believes women ought to be “more personally responsible” for their sexual behavior.
“Right now, it’s real easy,” Rep. Tony Tinderholt, R-Arlington, told the Texas Observer this week. “Right now, they don’t make it important to be personally responsible because they know that they have a backup of, ‘Oh, I can just go get an abortion.’ Now, we both know that consenting adults don’t always think smartly sometimes. But consenting adults need to also consider the repercussions of the sexual relationship that they’re gonna have, which is a child.”
What's the stats on abortion due to rape, and abortion because people are irresponsible?
Does it matter how many women are affected? No woman should have to carry their rapist's fetus.
But let's just pretend that every unwanted pregnancy happened because women were running the streets grabbing on to unwilling men and forcing themselves on them.
I've had surgery to remove an IUD that migrated THROUGH my uterus. Luckily I didn't have an unplanned pregnancy. If I had, how was I being irresponsible?
So women should just close their legs, is that this guy's brilliant idea? Has he ever heard of date rape, or just rape in general? Has he ever heard of birth control failing?
Sure, outlaw abortion. Then make it a law to conduct DNA testing on every newborn and hold the baby daddy responsible for that child's welfare. Or was that not part of the deal, that men should be just as responsible as women?
I'm pro-life but I want nothing to do with morons like this.
