The issue here is not Muslims, it is what do we want America to be. For 230 years it has stood for the idea that people can come from anywhere and be accepted. Trump wants to change that. He wants America to be a walled off and be afraid of the rest of the world. He wants us to look more like North Korea with a paranoid mad man at the helm.

I think people would be OK with stronger background checking on immigrants coming from certain countries but the way that Trump went about what he did was and is another example that he is clueless in how to run a country. He needs to think these things through and he obviously didn't.

Liberals stand (or used to stand) for individual freedom and the rights of under privileged groups like women and LGBT. I was raised in the strictest Christian denomination (a mainstream cult) and I understand the destructive power of bad religion. I am an agnostic. Why are so many secular Liberals siding with Muslims, when the worse Christian groups are equal to the most liberal Muslim groups? Liberals are trying to destroy the political power of Christians who are annoying and bigoted with Muslims who want to kill people like them. Shouldn't the goal to be to prevent more religious zealots from altering American culture? Everyday in Muslim countries gay people are thrown off buildings and girls who refuse to marry are murdered. Christians may be bigoted but they don't do anything like that and haven't for 400 years. There are things I disagree with Trump on but he is right that we should filter people from the worst part of the world for cultural compatibility. Not doing so in the past resulted in 9/11, Beltway Snipers, Ft Hood shooting, San Bernardino shooting, Orlando shooting, and many small scale crimes not reported in the national media, like the man kidnapped and gang raped by Somali Muslims in Nashville TN.

Quite right because as we have proven time and time again the lefties and libbies are hypocrites. How can you care about women and gays but want to let tens of thousands of Muslim men into the country? I quite assure you no Muslim man is going to let a feminist woman tell him what do. He will spit on her.

They can never answer any of this. Also I thought the lefties and libbies hated religion anyway? All of a sudden it's great? It's all about votes! Same with the illegal immigrant issue..all about votes.

I've read this accusation over and over, yet take immigrants from Mexico who, based on the analysis I have read, should feel right at home with the conservative social agenda of the Republican party.

I think a good question is why is the Republican party not attracting more supporters from a group that would naturally be aligned. I think the answer is likely connected to the demonization of citizens who are of Mexican ethnicity. Number one example in this last election cycle was the attack on the Judge who was hearing the case involving Trump's scam university.

I work with people who once upon a time were "illegal"

Let me explain how these people are exploited via "sanctuary cities" and their tales of what they endured coming here.

One of my co workers is Mexican. Came here in 95 became legal in 98...
What he saw crossing the border, would give you a nightmare, there's a group called La Eme, and Marasalvatura 13 (MS13) along with VARIOUS cartels whom prey on the people seeking an opportunity.

Not only are Mexicans gaining entry at the weak points, a lot of Asians other Latin countries, middle easterners, and some Europeans even do this (this was how my brother in laws parents from Poland got in, through Mexico)

What these groups do in exchange for getting you into America is either take your money and leave you for dead in the desert, or strap drugs and tell you under a condition you deliver the drugs to a certain location (not exactly pounds of coke or marijuana, but a small amount) where they will give you a place to rest for a week. After that it's on your own. They have a week to find someplace else, and employment.

Some become field hands on ranches, or work in construction, or work in fields. The business owners take advantage of their cheap labor, they put them in crappy housing say 10-15 people in a single wide trailer or bad apartment. They "help" them to be legal through work visas. Or don't and threaten them with deportation. It's sad. I know a man in Upstate NY who owns a horse ranch and does many hoardings for the track horses at Saratoga... He even spoke of how he uses these poor people. And it's all legal, sadly...

What these exploiters do, say they have 10 mobile homes on a ranch/farm, they'll "help" get them the work visa, then make money off tax payers to get them section 8 and other housing benefits. Health insurance was questionable at best, non existent for many. If they were hurt, they were told not to say they were hurt on the job, but fell down stairs or threw their back out by bending over to tie their shoe-frauds the taxpayer through Medicaid... Circumvents workers comp... Some had illness with them when they crossed. Mexico isn't renowned for it's top notch health facilities and hospitals...

Now. It is my understanding that yes, my president ran on the promise to build the wall... That wall is to prevent further exploiting cheap Laborers, that wall is to prevent anyone from coming in without proper screening. Y'all wanted to flee to Canada it didn't work for has did it? Every country INCLUDING Mexico has immigration laws...

Why ignorant to your own countries laws?

Do you not care or are just simply unaware about the diseases they may bring in? That's not hate speech, nor trolling, TB and other disease are a result of poor health standards as well as other issues... We take vaccination for granted-however to go to Canada or Mexico you have to be as healthy as can be and productive.
Do you not care about drug smuggling? Like I said, they not only took these peoples money to cross them over, they did have them smuggle drugs into this country with them.
Are you not concerned of what kind of people come in? I don't know about you, but I personally wouldn't want Pablo Escobar to my left, El Chapo across the street, and Johnny Jihad to my right.

It's not a matter of race religion color and creed. TO ME personally ME I care about the quality of the people coming in... Not so much the quantity, but the quality of the folks seeking to live here...
The doors shouldn't be open with the lights left on for murderers, rapists, those who've committed domestic violence, those who've spread drugs, those who seek to do harm or jump on taxpayer entitlement programs.

There are homeless Americans on our streets regardless of what put them there, they should be the priority. Not foreigners. There are starving children here. There are a lot of things this country has turned it's back on in favor of foreigners and I don't find anything "fair" or "just" about that.

So if Trump wants to give a preference towards letting the victims rather than perpetrators into the USA that is 'walling off the world?" The real refugees in the Middle East are Christians, Yazidis, and non religious people. Was Obama walling off the world when we deported 20 Iraqi Christians from San Diego to ISIS controlled areas? Liberals love ethnic quotas, why was it ok for 99% of refugees to be Muslim when 10% of the people in those places are non Muslim?
