With vastly more democrat Senate seats up for grab in 2018 than Republican seats, how many will switch to Republican?
3 times more democrat seats are open in 2018 than republicans at 25 to 8. Plus two independent. Ten of those Senate seats were from states fast Trump won. This push greatly helps Republicans in the effort to win more seats to add to the majority.
With democratic party imploding by alienating middle American, moderate democrats, it only makes sense that democrats will lose more seats. It's just a question if democrats will lose enough to push Republicans over 60 seats in 2018.

Honestly, it will probably be more like 2006. There was low voter turnout this election because most people thought Hillary had it in the bag. I expect the Republicans to lose more seats this election (everyone except me seems to forget that the Republicans LOST House and Senate seats this time around). Midterms generally don't favor the president
I would usually have said democrats will retake senate in this scenario. However, the behavior of democrats and their pet media leads me to believe that trump supporters will come out in vast numbers - like they did in 2010, 2014, and 2016. Given the precedent over the past several elections - including midterms - I'm not sure why anyone would think the voting patterns would reverse themselves...

The distribution will depend on how badly the Donald manages the economy for the former Democratic workers that voted for him. If the economy collapses as I expect then the Dems will do well. If not then we will have a very difficult fight. This is complicated by the fact the Democratic party has to return to being the party of the workers and not the investors as it has been under the Clintons. That has started.
