This guy threatens an invasion over the phone. At least GWB has the courtesy to consult with fellow NATO countries.

GWB like Obama should have consulted the constitution instead.

invasion? Are you talking about the "OMG HE's GOING TO INVADE MEXICO" tripe that has been discussed on here already several times today?

Here's a quote from time.com

Quote:
Eduardo Sanchez, spokesman for Mexico's presidential office, denied the tone of the conversation was hostile or humiliating, saying it was respectful.

"It is absolutely false that the president of the United States threatened to send troops to Mexico," Sanchez said in an interview with Radio Formula on Wednesday night.
A White House spokesman did not respond to requests for comment. The Mexican Foreign Relations Department had earlier told The AP: "The negative statements you refer to did not occur during said telephone call. On the contrary, the tone was constructive."

Yeah, like the Mexican administration would admit that it happened lol. Try to think. What would happen if they confirmed it? The Mexican people would be furious and tie the hands of Mexico's government completely. No sane government would confirm any such stories.

It is overwhelmingly likely that it did happen and Mexico tries to navigate the waters accordingly to buy themselves wiggle room.

Well, since I wasn't there, I'll believe the reliable sources that say he did threaten to send troops to Mexico. Perhaps both the Australian PM and Mexican President do not want to rock the boat and further inflame the situation.

In any case, Trump deserves whatever negative press he gets from the media he has spent over a year denouncing, calling dishonest, bad people, and worse.

All sources like this are anonymous. Trump's treatment of all other countries and leaders he feels have slighted him are perfectly in line with this episode.

What's anonymous about the Associated Press? It usually only prints news that has been verified.

"Still, the excerpt offers a rare and striking look at how the new president is conducting diplomacy behind closed doors. Trump's remarks suggest he is using the same tough and blunt talk with world leaders that he used to rally crowds on the campaign trail."
