What do you think? It doesn't look like it has been brought up in a while and I didn't realize she was doing this last week.

It would probably add to our national debt, but so far one of the only ideas I actually would appreciate.

That's all we need. More incentive for poor people to pop out babies.

I do fully support Trump's proposed plan to eliminate mortgage interest deductions on second homes. Has always only benefited the wealthy. And I have a second and even third home!

Do you seriously think she really cares how much child care costs? She and people like her live in a whole different reality.

She seems too liberal for my taste

I don't know how much it would benefit poor people but it would help the middle class. We don't get childcare deductions. We cannot deduct student loan interest either. They should at least remove the income caps.

I'd be good with this deduction, and if it could be paid for by removing the 2nd & 3rd home deductions, I'm for that too.

But a deduction for child care expenses won't help the folks at the bottom of the pile. They lack the cash-in-hand to pay for child care in the first place. To the extent that it's an incentive for people to have more kids, it would be more of an incentive for middle-income folks.

??? This benefits the Military who just lost their child-care service due to Trump. Funny how this works.

Exactly this. Tax deductions do little or nothing for people who can't afford to pay for childcare in the first place. But for middle class families, whose monthly childcare bill often exceeds their mortgage, this could be helpful.

"rebates as high as $1,200 per year for eligible families." Not really enough incentive to have kids for that low amount imo. You never know.

Well intentioned but reacting too, and treating a symptom. Too many low paying jobs. Inflation has outstripped wages.

I can see the abuse already. Pay Grandma $1K/month to take care of your kids and get the deduction and she gives the money back at the end of the year because family can give $10K/year tax free.
