I think the people elected a business man. "The Apprentice" was just a game to Trump, something to keep him busy. And he was certainly different from the stale old politicians who are unable to accomplish anything for the people who need it. I find everything turning upside down in politics refreshing. Like a great big window was just opened.

So which is it? No one should care or Trumpistas should be insulted?

It's unfortunate our society elevates celebrity and give such a platform to them while others have a hard time getting their voices heard. However, the country did hear them when Trump won so we have to acknowledge that things are a bit one sided when it comes to the press. My question is, who do celebrities think they are talking to? Most of their peers are captive audience of people who aren't going to do anything but cheer. Passive at home viewers or people who like reading about their favorite actor/actress aren't likely to care.

I have no problems with her saying whatever she wants though.

I know surgeons who actually saved lives that I could careless about their political opinions, exactly what has Ms Streep done that gives her such prominence?

No nerve being struck, just correcting those who put her on a pedestal.

She gave 6 good to great performances (in 6 good to great movies) during the first 12 years of her career & has given 1-2 OK performances (in 1-2 mediocre movies) in the last 30 years.

and she's a socialist wackadoodle.

(exact same career path and as her co-star in Deer Hunter, who's also a nutjob & who's also been phoning it in....& I'm definitely not talking about Walken)

Oh yeah, like Donald Trump is a Homie from the Ghetto. And yet you still relate to him and feel he is out for your benefit. I bet Meryl has worked harder in her life than he ever has.

This woman was in the top of her career when the VHS tapes were sold and made some very good movies. Now she is making movies that aren't watched too much and her blue ray movies aren't watched that much but her fellow left wing actors live to vote for her to win an award.

Actually what she does is ruin the careers of young actors as many will avoid her movies so she will become toxic.

Watching her to go down in history for a fool instead of going to end her career and remembered for a being a great actress is what she is doing to herself.

The self destruction of what once was a great actress and right. Ow an overrated older woman who is losing her beautiful image she once had to appease the left and laughed at by the majority.

She can't handle losing and is it is kind of funny to watch her destroy her own career.
I've always avoided her movies. She doesn't do anything for me. I guess I'm just a deplorable.

Number 23 out of 50 is not "The most celebrated actress of our time".

Meryl Streep currently in London at the 70th 70th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA Awards) hosted this year at the Royal Albert Hall with a post award party being held at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.

Stephen Fry kissed her and then had a dig at Trump by stating ‘One of the greatest actresses of all time, only a blithering idiot would think otherwise, Meryl Streep.’

Followed by ‘Let’s crack on with the awards themselves and find out who the Russians have decided has won.’

You can see the winners in the links below - the BAFTA's usually give a good indication of what to expect at the Oscars.

Multiple wins and nominations

5 wins: La La Land

2 wins: Lion and Manchester by the Sea

Her rants are the same exact ones I hear from post menopausal women all over the place. For some reason there seems to be a collective insanity that has fallen on that particular group and Donald Trump is the one who caused it.

So as intelligent as she is, I can hear the same damn thing from women who barely graduated high school and couldn't poor **** out of a boot if the directions were written on the heel.
