Figure that comes out to maybe $950 after taxes...and that worker will be lucky to make rent, much less food, necessities, car expenses, health care, etc.

And that's if the person works literally nonstop other than 4 hours of sleep.
Exactly, I drive a semi-tractor for a living, and already put in 60+ hr weeks, and am barred by both federal law (FMCSA) and by employment contract from getting a second job, which I would only be able to work on Sundays anyways.

Way to Boogeyman? How is wanting nationalized healthcare and taxpayer funded college wanting to control every aspect of your life?

The bracket income parameters matter. Adjust for inflation to understand what they would be in today's dollars, and get back to us.

You were given the link from the CBO and now pretend you dont know nothing about it, just like when you argued that Swedes earning $300 000 pay less taxes than Americans earning $300 000, which blew up in your face.
I said they paid a lower total effective tax rate than Swedes earning less than that. Sweden has a regressive tax system, as do other Scandinavian and European countries. Read the research:

Why can't you just accept facts?

So?

At 10% someone who makes 100k a year is still paying 5X what someone making 20k per year pays.

Does the person who makes 100k use 5X the government services over someone making 20k?

And you want them to pay MORE than 5X ....and think that's "fair" ?

$1.00 per hour jobs would only be possible if the market allows it.

That means:

1. People would be willing to work for $1.00 per hr (no one is forcing them to take those jobs)

2. Companies would have to be happy with the quality of workers they attract at $1.00 per hour.

3. A necessary lack
of competition from companies willing to pay more to attract better workers.

The whole "return to slavery" or "sweat shop" wages and conditions is a red herring.

The market won't allow it.

And I assume you make considerably more than $2.00/hr.

So...why do you work such long hours?

Because you want to make more money.

I was responding to the people who say I should work more, and yes I make more than $2/hr. I'm paid 43 cents per mile, which is the equivalent of $26/hr or so

They LOVE having desperate poor people. It makes them feel more successful. It's basic psychology, and they've ALWAYS been looking for people to be below them.
