But requiring someone to show an ID is racist and will burden the elderly and minorities.
Nice try, but transparent.
The majority of the 1,000 people protesting Senator Mitch McConnell's lack of responsiveness to his constituents (and by association, Donald Trump's actions) in Lawrenceburg, KY this past Tuesday were over 50, white, and female. Many said they'd never protested previously. No one took the bus to get there - they drove or carpooled. No out-of-state license plates were on the cars parked in the area set aside for protestors.
I'm sure the vast majority of those women would have had no trouble whatsoever producing their driver's licenses or other photo i.d.s, and I am certain they would not have found it personally burdensome.
However - the overt threat to freedom of speech and assembly is something they and the others there would have found quite burdensome, not for themselves - but for our country.
When an ID is required it will eliminate illegal aliens from attending that have a conviction as they can be picked up and deported and make a requirement that the meeting is only for constituents.
Or you can do like the Democratic Representatives from Maryland did the other day, have an invitation only Town Hall.
Like Mitch McConnell's little event in Lawrenceburg, KY the other day? Where fifty were inside - and one thousand outside protesting?
We were ALL his constituents, and some constituents are not more equal than other constituents. See my other posts for a fuller account of the events of that occasion, and McConnell's behavior.
They did something like this in that election in Crimea a couple of years ago, you know, the one with the transparent-sided glass ballot boxes and the choice of voting either "Do you want to join Russia?" or "Do you want to leave Ukraine?"
Notice how some conservatives want to limit democracy when their opponents are vocal and showing up.
Interesting how that works.
When they were being bussed in with fancy brand new machines with lettering on the side in 2009-2010 (Koch funded), they had no problem with that. Now they have problems with The People.
Like we saw before the elections, bus after bus, are being brought in, from out of this representatives districts.
Just where did "we" see this occur? Proof, please?
BTW, the election is over and we're talking about what's going on at present, not last summer or fall. Please try to keep up.
