Sorta. But it's more about how do you choose the 50 networks that get the press briefing when 1000s want it.
well, we don't choose. The president and his administration choose.

CNN and WaPo simply have more tradition; they are poor at reporting. It shouldn't be a big deal if Joe Schmo gets access over them.
I find it really weird that you lump CNN and WaPo together. Wapo is biased, high-quality reporting. Comparing it to a random blog is out of touch with reality.
Why should they get access at all? We all have cameras on our phones and can set up a blog to share our opinions for free.
Why should CNN get to cover the President over Joe Schmo with a blog?
Back in the day you needed news networks with their equipment, but nowadays we can all live broadcast and disseminate the news worldwide.
CNN is a huge, international net work of news sources that gathers news from 212 countries and is available widely all over the world. Joe Schmo's blog can't compete with that. Joe Schmo's blog can't be trusted to disseminate the news from a broader point of view than he/she has and without a personal agenda that could be anything from pure evil to sainthood. Have you never heard the parable about a group of blind people describing an elephant? When they compared notes they completely disagree on what an elephant is. That's what Joe Schmo's single point of view blog is like. He/she doesn't see the whole picture nor do they try to do that.

CNN was the first cable news outlet and demonstrated news could be profitable.
The US has about 5% of the world's population.
If something blows in Paris, Synney or Cairo, CNN is likely to be there.
Why need police depts ,just give everyone a gun and hand grenades ?
Police departments are set up to protect corporate interests. Not the peoples.
They are a standing army for corporations, set up and hired by a corporation and only accountable to the corporation.
The Sheriff is an elected official, and if they do not have the peoples best interest in mind, they are out of a job.
I'm all for posse and the people rounding up the evil within the communities(including the corrupt elected officials)
Glenn Beck thought Hillary was going to win and he was hedging his bets, because he knew Hillary was going to clamp down on the 1st amendment and freelance journalist on the web. Notice Glenn's sudden turn to Progressive Establishment there, as Hillary was a sure shoe in??
Beck is in it for his bank account.
He sold out. Now he is losing audience.

Let me guess; you and Trump decided they are poor at reporting because they don't portray him in a positive light.
