In 1983 Ted Kennedy approached the USSR and asked for covert help in defeating Reagan's 1984 reelection bid. Kennedy would assist the Soviets by feeding them US information so they could resist nuclear reduction talks. The Soviets would in return escalate tensions with the US to fear monger voters towards the Democrats.

In 2012 Obama either lied or foolishly blasted Romney for calling Russia a geo-political adversary. Obama then told Putin that he could have more flexibility after his 2012 reelection bid. Obama wanted Putin to alter his policy temporarily to help with votes. Putin then waited before getting aggressive until after Obama won his reelection to not put Obama in a tough spot - thus helping Obama's reelection by waiting to run amok.

I don't know what Ted Kennedy did 25 years ago, but a quick search exposes a massive flaw in the story.
Nobody has ever been able to reproduce this "memo" Mr Kengor claims to have seen .

This is the reason this story never really got legs, it is unsupportable. Maybe Kengor is telling the truth and maybe not. We have no way of knowing until a fully authenticated memo is displayed for all to see.

the entire story rests on Paul Kengor being completely honest. Just as Mormons rely on the guy who found magic tablets with special rules and never showed them to another living soul.

The other story about Obama is meaningless, Obama was in fact PRESIDENT and was up for reelection. He was telling the Russians that he would have more flexibility once elected. And this is something we all know that every elected person does. ie they avoid handing their opponents weapons to bash them with. If Obama gave the Russians a peanut during an election cycle he would have been accused by the right of eating babies alive.

so what we have is

1 unsupported accusation, that gets echoed by the right.

2 a pretty normal if somewhat embarrassing hot mike.

Exactly. There is nothing wrong with candidates and campaign officials talking to other countries including Russia. I don't know why people and media cries wolf as soon as they find some one talking to Russians. As long as they are not breaking any laws, what is the problem. Lee Pen actually took a loan from Russian bank.

It just goes to show that they all collude with our so called enemies.

What did George Bush have going with the Saudis to put them all on a plane back home after 911 when every plane in the US was grounded?

Hillary took money through her foundation from countries in the Middle East in the so called Pay to Play schemes. I'm so glad they won't come calling for their favors.

In your quote "1 unsupported accusation, that gets echoed by the right."
We could easily apply that to Jeff Sessions. His ties with Russia are unsupported accusations that get echoed by the Left and Liberal media.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Right?

But all of the hysteria now is based on a supposition or allegation that no. 2 is what Trump's team did. So what's the problem in your view?

Really bad diversion tactic. Now we are talking about the 80's?
I rather the FBI and current administration explained why Jared was in one of the meetings with Flynn and it's only now known.

you are conflating two issues.

sessions denied he talked to any Russians and he was under oath, thus he is in trouble.

whether or not he even talked about deals, trump or whatever might well be moot.

Ted is not accused of that , Obama is not accused of that. Sessions, like Flynn made a huge error and will likely pay the price. But to be honest it would be really good for Trump to lose these guys they are likely to weaken him otherwise , how the rightwing does not get this is simply beyond me.

Trump's best bet is to dump the trashy hires Bannon tricked him into taking. Bannon does not understand government, he understands breaking things and standing on the sidelines. Trump would get more done, he would get much more support and he would get better press if he just dumped the white power folk.

First. It is yet to be determined if any laws were broken, especially since the Election was tampered with by Russians at the same time meetings with Trump associates were taking place.. We know this as fact.........cannot be denied.
Furthermore, Trump was practically begging the Russians to hack Hillary Clinton's personal information and doing it publicly, when Russians were in fact hacking the DNC. what's up with that

Second, why did so many people in Trump's inner circle lie about meeting with Russians? And under oath, no less.

Seems like a whole lot of smoke, not to be a fire somewhere.
