GOP eyes best chance in years to defund Planned Parenthood

Congressional Republicans are aiming to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood early next year, according to GOP sources on and off the Hill, as social conservatives press for a milestone win under Donald Trump's presidency after years of thwarted attempts to defund the health care group.

Although the Senate passed a budget bill in late 2015 that eliminated federal money for Planned Parenthood and also repealed Obamacare, President Barack Obama vetoed the measure in early January. But with Trump in the White House next year, conservatives say it's just a matter of time before a defunding bill becomes law.

Good... if you want an abortion through PP, they will still be available. But, hopefully I won't be paying for it.

If it was a newborn and you had the choice of killing it or supporting it for 18 years what would be your choice?

Ah, the liberal mantra: "you're going to have to pay for my life choices one way or the other."

When it comes to the GOP the answer is none of the above.

They don't want abortions and they don't want to fund social programs for unwanted children.

It will be curious to see how they plan to just single out Planned Parenthood for defunding, they will need to pull funding for all these clinics.

What has the widespread availability of low-cost abortion done to eliminate the inter-generational welfare class? Seems to me it's as big as ever.

It's interesting because the left demands total freedom for people to make bad mistakes and also demands that society support those mistakes, in one form or another. So, for example, they say that poor people shouldn't starve. But if you say "OK, we'll apportion them food," it's like "what?? THIS IS AMERICA, SIR! They aren't your children! You give them cash and they get to decide what to buy!" Similarly, with poor people pumping out kids they can't afford and which actually lead to their poverty, it's like "no, THIS IS AMERICA, SIR! You can't prevent them from having kids, you can only choose to kill them or you raise them! Your choice!" Nah, how about forced sterilization? That harms nobody.

You say that like it's a moral dilemma for some of them.

You have to have funerals for blood clots now in Texas.

I don't want abortions. If you want them, fine. Pay for it - you (and anyone else) are free to privately send in a donation for their cause. That's all.
