That is such a moronic statement. Do you realize how many people are born with health problems? Or how many people have health issues that develop simply from aging, such as arthritis?

Premiums start at $24,001....$11.00 per month for a single person and double ($22.00) for a family

My income is over $42,000 per year, so I pay the maximum premium $75.00 as a single person.

Im not sure why everyone is celebrating, or freaking out.

#1 It needs to be scored, it cannot go through the budgetary voting process without being revenue neutral. Otherwise it takes 60 votes to pass the Senate.

#2 It won't even manage the 50 needed to pass through the senate via reconciliation. Multiple senators have said they will vote no if the abortion stuff was present. It is. Others have made threats over other things. Additionally, every state senator that expanded medicaid see's his own doom in what will occur.

This is meant to distract.

What people do need is responsible behavior and good health habits.

What I take issue with is when you do have health insurance, you pay your premiums, but then when you actually need it for something serious, the insurers can simply refuse to cover it -- "thanks for the premiums, sucker. Good luck with your cancer and your $1,000,000 bill!"

I've heard of this happening way too many times.

What do you do then? Switch insurers? Good luck with that, since:

1) with a pre-existing condition, you're out on your ass on your own
2) there are only so many health insurance companies to choose from, who are all likely to be just as slimy.
Exactamundo.
