The newly elected DNC Chair told supporters this weekend the party is suffering from both a crisis of relevance and confidence after eight years of Obama.
Democrats simply need to do what the GOP caucus did for several years. That is a housecleaning (older members need to go with fresh blood brought in), and a total reexamination of what their party means, stands for, and where it wants to go in future.
It wasn't just eight or five years ago everyone was saying the GOP was "finished" and would never hold the WH again. Well that theory didn't last long did it?
Democrats simply have to find a way out of being associated with pushing liberal, left social issues onto the American electorate at the expense of dealing with the real fears of the working and middle classes.
Gay marriage and "equality" was one thing. But then Democrats and Obama latched onto the whole trans thing as the next big push.
On the business/employment side every other day there was this or that new edict, investigation or whatever from a federal agency targeting this or that business for various "failures" on everything from LGBT issues, to pay or whatever. Many of these things out of the various departments amounted to nothing more than political witch hunts.

Incorrect. Liberalism has reached peak power and is now in permanent decline. Want to know the secret?
The secret is that modern liberalism was fueled by white guilt. White guilt is almost gone, except from the richest of the rich. Racist leftist politics, often rationalized as "identity policts," has successded in doing what whie supremecy never could- it has turned white people into one of the competing tribes as envisioned by modern liberalism.
Or, to be more correct, it has turned them into the biggest and most powerful of the tribes.
So sorry, but the left as we know it is virtually finished.

While I wish you were right about this --- I don't think you are....
Much as I can't stand her -- Hillary did win the popular vote. The younger generation seems to be getting more liberal, not less. I see continued battles between left and right, for many years to come.
IMO The GOP has a lot of power right now at this moment in time and they can't do anything with it. It is their demise we are watching. What more can the American people give them? Their floundering leadership and disunity in the rank and rile is a cautionary tale about power. They have opened themselves up to be attacked on too many fronts.
One needs to understand that Liberals and (D)'s are not simply interchangable.
Many Liberals care about the predicament of others and want to do something about it.
Most (D)'s especially in context here only care about power and themselves.
