But you can't judge a culture per cultural relativism as pushed by many liberal PC multi-culturalists. Culture is the widely accepted beliefs and actions of a people. Therefore, you can't judge the actions widely accepted by a group of people as immoral and certainly not of locking up this couple in the UAE.
You also can't judge it as regressive if in your fantasy Ultra Conservatives won out and imposed jail terms for out of wedlock sex here in the US.
If all cultures are relative and can't be judged, then the US has made ZERO cultural improvements the past 200 years. We have made no improvements in our widely accepted beliefs and actions. Something like slavery is "amoral" neither right or wrong, but merely how you look at it through your own cultural lens. Multicultural Relativism!
