The official list has been set and is no longer up for discussion.

Among the TV talking heads no. 1 would be liberal commentator Eugene Robinson. No. 2 would be conservative commentator Charles Lane. James Earl Jones may have the greatest speaking voice of all time in any category.

Without question Barbara Jordan was the most eloquent person to ever speak into a microphone.

Bob.
One of the best political leaders in a very long time.

I take it almost personally that SheJack sits in Ms. Jordan's chair.

I met her once at UT when I mic'd her up for a panel she was on. Wish we had cell phone cameras back then.

She's not a politician, but for some reason I love Reese Witherspoon's speaking voice. She sounds so polished and confident yet still feminine and lively.

I'm jealous. My voice in comparison is very soft and quiet, and I always sound unsure of myself.

Thanks for this...

Today I am an inquisitor. An hyperbole would not be fictional and would not overstate the solemnness that I feel right now. My faith in the Constitution is whole; it is complete; it is total. And I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction, of the Constitution.
Is that not a thing of beauty?

And this?

Common sense would be revolted if we engaged upon this process for petty reasons. Congress has a lot to do: Appropriations, Tax Reform, Health Insurance, Campaign Finance Reform, Housing, Environmental Protection, Energy Sufficiency, Mass Transportation. Pettiness cannot be allowed to stand in the face of such overwhelming problems. So today we are not being petty. We are trying to be big, because the task we have before us is a big one.
If she were living, she could have said this yesterday and it be just as relevant. What have we done all these years?
