That quote is a reference to Nazi Germany. Hitler went after Socialists, unions, Jews... The point was that when political authority starts targeting citizens, you should take issue with it. It's intentionally vague.
To the OPs point, he's saying we should have a problem with the President of the United States, an office that once held some significance as an office and not a personality, has made targeted attacks on both the press and the judiciary and that we should be concerned about this. What happens when he goes after the courts or the senate? The point is to be critical.

Great post, Americans need to be paying attention.

Yes, I remember how everyone came together to fight Obama when he took out warrants against journalists and use the IRS to target conservatives.
Oh wait, no, that's not right. Liberals mostly laughed.

So, I assume the outrage you had for Obama is the same as it is now for Trump, correct? Or else this comment you're making is hypocritical, which would be deliciously ironic since this post is attempting to say liberals are hypocritical...
Actually, the way Trump treats the media is dangerous.
The question is, "Who does the media work for?", "Who's interests are they trying to further?"
Why is the media increasingly nervous about the internet? And why has the internet been blamed for much of the division in society?
What is the true purpose of the corporate media?

I don't think you've used the right word.
But since you brought up Hitler, I like this video. But I warn you, do not watch passed 4 minutes 45 seconds.

He's already gone after the courts in a sense when his first Muslim ban was thrown out.
I wish more people were paying attention but in general things don't hit us until they directly impact us.
Can only expect melodrama fro progressive liberals. Of course the well-trod path was trod by none other than former President Obama.
Have we forgotten already about...

On May 13, 2013, the Associated Press announced telephone records for 20 of their reporters during a two-month period in 2012 had been subpoenaed by the Justice Department. AP reported the Justice Department would not say why it sought the records, but news sources noted the US Attorney's office for the District of Columbia was conducting a criminal investigation into a May 7, 2012 Associated Press story about a CIA operation which prevented the Yemeni terrorist Fahd al-Quso's plot to detonate an explosive device on a commercial flight.[1] The DOJ did not direct subpoenas to the Associated Press; instead, the subpoenas were issued to their telephone providers, including Verizon Wireless.[2]

Well, yes, but the fact is that some of us tend to agree with the President: The Main Stream Media IS, in our opinion, extremely biased, and can not be trusted to report the facts without that bias showing. The Courts DO, in fact, ignore the law quite frequently either to legislate from the bench, or to show their own biases. A case in point is the fact that the courts consistently ignore that portion of 8 USC 1182 which gives the President absolute power to control immigration.
It is worthy of note that neither of the EOs targeted "citizens" of the United States. They targeted people who were not citizens!
