83% of the top high school science students are children of immigrants
... and 52% were girls. Obviously the finalist selections were based, at least in part, on political considerations. As we saw with the Ahmed the Clock Boy fiasco, tech companies like Intel will do anything to promote the idea that America needs more foreign STEM workers.

From what I saw when I was a kid the feeder fairs were fair. No discrimination based on demographics. That said, the biological sciences were rife with students doing research in their parents' lab; still very impressive work but not exactly an even playing field. So yeah, the only thing that seemed to matter about who your parents were was lab access. Not ethnicity, not gender, not country of origin.
Well it's not surprising to me, but it probably will be to all the Trump supporters living out in the sticks. If you want to see the future of this country, sit in on a class at Stuyvesant or Bronx Science High Schools in New York. Almost all of the students are children of immigrants, and 100x smarter than your average Trump supporter.

Hopefully non hispanic whites dry up in this country. They’re just dumb trump supporters.
I wish it was more like Pakistan here. Smarter overall and more peaceful than Trump's facists.
33 of the top 40 (83%)students in the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search are children of immigrants. The parents of 30 of the 40 (75%) came here as holders of H1B visas.
And the majority of those H1B visa holders are from India and Asia.
So that doesn't justify keeping all the illegals sneaking in from south of the border (especially the ones who can't be bothered to learn English after 20 years of living in the US) or bringing in refugees from Syria.
And honestly, America shouldn't try to hog all the academic talent. They should go back to their home countries and try to improve the quality of life over there. It's not a global contest. There is no need for the US to be the most desirable country to live in. I'd much rather they want to stay in their own countries and be happy there.

Aren't you the people who berated Yale economics students for being "snowflakes." The GOP's anti-intellectual crusade is causing this country great harm. Being uneducated simply because you believe all professors are "commie-liberals" is not something to be proud of.
