I think it's going to be very difficult for Donald Trump to get his ideas passed even with a GOP majority in both the House and Senate. It's kind of what happens when you spend a year purposely pissing off people on both sides of the aisle.
"Both sides of the aisle" might find that their constituents support Trump more than they support them, and are ready to vote accordingly.
He is in a unique position to return American politics to bi-partisanship. He is politically powerful enough to smack down extremists in both parties if he has a mind to do so. There are any number of areas where his promises on the campaign trail and longstanding Democratic policy would converge.
He actually (I can't believe I am writing this) could turn this presidency into a great one.
I agree with you. He has a lot of ideas that Democrats should like such as infrastructure spending.

Didja miss the morning papers???
tRUMP is a political eunuch after yesterday's embarrassment.
He shouldn't have any problem getting tax cuts and regulatory reform without Democrat support.
If he gets two supreme court justices plus tax cuts, he will have more than justified his presidency.
He'll need good old Mitch McConnell to use the nuclear option to pave the way for a conservative supreme court.
Huh? Tax cuts will be a huge problem. The so-called Freedom Caucus will not tolerate the increase in debt that any substantive cut will lead to and the moderates will not tolerate cuts in federal programs that might offset those increases. Then there are all those outside groups - many more than on health care - that will be working behind the scenes. This is going the same way as Obamacare. You have a situation in the House where two groups with opposing views and differing constituencies have veto power. Make one happy the other vetoes. It's like we have three parties and you need a coalition to get anything done. Gridlock can't be broken without Dem support. But right now, there is little political gain in Dems supporting Trump and I fully expect Dems to get out the popcorn and enjoy the show.
Oh, and infrastructure. Same fight. Freedom caucus against borrowing to pay, coastal moderates all in. Dems?
Here's the rub....true, he might not need any democratic support. But I don't think Americans are going to sit back and allow Trump to pass tax cuts that benefit only the wealthy.
They'll benefit everybody by stimulating the economy.

Trump has little credibility as does congress. I think more than ever people....liberal and conservatives and in-between..... are going to research the proposed tax cuts and figure out who exactly benefits from the proposed changes. If they feel they are unjust, they will protest at town halls and to their representatives. With social media these protests are impactful.
People are rediscovering their voices do count. The squeaky wheel and all that.
This is just the usual liberal meme that if the rich benefit, everyone else suffers.
Moving left wouldn't help him at all and would lose him support from the right. Democrats aren't going compromise (they never do) they will insist on everything their way. The only bill he could get votes from the left on is one they wrote. The democrats clearly have absolutely no intention of working WITH anyone since their candidate lost.
Repubs just spent 8 years doing everything they could to obstruct and vote no to the plans laid out by Obama and the Dems now all of a sudden they are in power and want help from the Dems? Best of luck with that logic as unrelenting vilification of the left from the right has now got righties viewing Democrats as the enemy of the nation.
Repubs have all the power and need help from Democrats?aint gonna happen! Heres an idea rather than hating on Democrats/minorities/the poor /Hillary/Obama/etc why not just get on with your pipedream of making America great again.

The freedom caucus will whine, but that's all. They know that the only way to significantly reduce our national debt is to double our rate of growth, and you can't do that without tax cuts and regulatory reform.
As for what you call "moderates," I can't think of any Republicans in Congress who don't want major cuts in federal programs.
