And his partner will likely receive the same sentence. Strange case because the cops are black and victims are white. The cops were arrested within 72 hours and was indicted VERY swiftly. They had no police support and the victim (father) got a lot of sympathy although he led cops on a short chase. Hmmmm....no one is questioning why the driver didn't just comply. Rumors are that he had his hands up.

The cops claimed that he was intoxicated and backed into their car, and the cop car does have minor damage.

All that aside, I'm glad these cops are getting Buck Rogers years for killing this child. But justice sure did move rather swiftly in this case.

I live nearby. The cop's family are blaming white people saying if the races were different then the cops would be innocent. This isn't true because these two cops are on video shooting at the truck while it was stopped and the driver had his hands out the window. There was a recent case of a white cop who shot and killed a black man. The white cop was also tried in court because of the video.

Yes it's a tragedy that the child was killed, but if the father had only complied and not led cops on a chase, his son would still be alive, right?

Ooops...I apologize. For a minute I thought that the racial roles had been reversed. Never mind.

Now imagine if it was a black family instead. Justice, right...

I don't have a problem with the verdict, just the consistency which police action is attempted to be justified.

Except the video shows the victim's truck not moving and his hands outside the truck when the cops started shooting. As for why he didn't comply immediately, turns out the victim and the boy's mom have a personal history with one of the two cops and he made calls expressing fear for his life from the cop.
